We're On Telly Friday Night!
Tuesday, 15th Feb 2011 12:17 by portvale4ever

Our Friday night clash with Bradford City will be shown live on SKY Sports, so let's hope to God that we don't serve up anything as painfully shocking as the first 70 minutes of Saturdays encounter with Northampton Town.

Gannon needs desperately to learn the lessons from our 1-1 draw with The Cobblers, the  final twenty minutes were touched by the genius of Gary Roberts, and our Midfield God must surely start on Friday night. Manager Jim Gannon may well see things differently, but that's because he's proving himself to be a bit of a clown. Take Exodus Geohaghan for instance. The bloke is shockingly bad, but seems to be considered by Gannon to be the lynch pin of the team. Exodus is the worst midfielder at the Club, pure and simple.

Gannon also needs to drop this two holding midfielders nonsense as well, we effectively line up with six defenders, and paarticularly at home is just isn't good enough. It's not neccessary either, before Christmas we had the best defence in the league, and despite those 'blips' at Gillingham and Rotherham I think we are still solid at the back.

Gareth Owen will obviously be missing through injury, Marc Richards returned to action in the second half against Northampton Town and this will be the last chance to see Gary Roberts before he embarks on his three-match ban for violent conduct in a reserve match last week. Why on earth did Gannon have him playing in a reserve match? Idiot.

My starting line-up (no chance of this happening):- Chris Martin, Adam Yates, John McCombe, Lee Collins, Kris Taylor, Doug Loft, Gary Roberts, Anthony Griffith, Jay O'Shea, Tom Pope, Marc Richards.

Robert Taylor I would always have starting from the bench as he does far more damage coming on for 20-25 mins than he ever does playing from the start, I'd also have Louis Dodds on the bench, Stuart Tomlinson, Ritchie Sutton, those two lads from WBA, and maybe, just maybe Exodus Geohaghan, purely to make up the numbers.

Gannon won't play 4-4-2, he reckons we don't have the players to manage that system. We seemed to cope fine with it when Micky Adams was here. When we maintained a top three position for half the season. Where are we now?

Hope we looked as good on the TV as we did from The Bycars! Best I've seen us under Gannon, but where was Rob Taylor? Can't believe he wasn't even in the bench!
