| News Comment | A rot stopper - Report at 11:44:02
Worth the trip I thought despite the distance, conditions and losing streak. At least Warbs was willing to deviate from his ‘Do Plan A Better’ schtick, and pick a side and system for the occasion. Even so we were much the better side, and might have walked off with the points had we taken just one of those chances. I was rather surprised how poor we made Swansea look, and their clear lack of ideas and ambition, pretty obvious to their fans, who gave the side and the manager a piece of their mind on several occasions. A good point in the circumstances, and would have taken that before the game. What really matters is we take that into the Stoke game and ease the ‘relegation battle’ pressure. |
| News Comment | Quickfire double downs QPR at Huddersfield - Report at 14:29:21
Pretty good summary once again Clive. Not sure about the pen, as up the other end - looked like Wallace hooked him, but the defence was all over the place thanks to Kelly's kick. As you point out, WTF was that kit the team were wearing? Looked like we'd borrowed shirts from the RAF and shorts from the Navy FFS! Hope to god we get something decent next season, bring back Dennis :-) |
| News Comment | QPR on Eze street as Warburton changes tack - Report at 14:07:01
Assumed chat with the lino was whether or not it was a red card? No idea, other than checking on some allegation by Pearson, but I thought the double jeopardy thingy had ruled out a red card as well as a pen? |
| News Comment | A Hull of a day for Eze as QPR win away again — Report at 15:51:00
Great to be at that game and witness Eze in such unplayable mode. Glad you gave Manning the credit he deserved for the equaliser, brilliantly contrived and taken, and rather overlooked next to the Eze Show. |

Never mind the footy, at least Clive is in top form! That opening rant was a two hankie job 😀 I’ve ‘enjoyed’ pre-season games in the past, not for any suggestion of quality or competitiveness, but more the weird unreality of it all, before the serious away shit starts. Having to miss out this time due to family visit abroad, but back in time for the Watford game - Oh Joy 🙄 |
| News Comment | Seven games in a leaky boat — Report at 09:27:17
We just knew on Tuesday night when Freeman had to go off that we’d lose the game and worse still we’d have no chance at Boro. Couldn’t foresee how tamely we’d succumb though. All that way for ninety minutes of Pulisball and a few rousing choruses of We’ve Got/Lost The Ball 😳😳 |
| News Comment | QPR make their point amidst Villa Park controversy - Report at 13:17:36
Thought Freeman was excellent, and what a hit for the first goal! He still gets it wrong sometimes, haven't seen it back, but when he got played through at 1-2, looked like he could have put Wells in for a tap in rather than his weak right foot shot straight at Steer. That would have been 1-3 and game over. |
| News Comment | West Brom wallop seven through hapless QPR - Report at 16:50:56
On top of witnessing that, we had to do the walk of shame right round the ground as usual, to get back to our car, parked near the Vine. At least the food and atmosphere in that Tardis of a pub was up to expectations! Shame that next season we and West Brom will likely be two divisions apart, but trying to see the positives and look forward to visiting Shrewsbury, Portsmouth, Burton, Wycombe et al. |
| News Comment | Repeats don't rate - Report at 08:27:35
Oh well guess we’ll do it all again next season. Maybe Ollie will discover the answer to life the universe and everything by then. Best thing about Leeds, during another dire second half, was the chanting section coming up with ‘We’ve got the ball, we’ve lost the ball’, which kept the Rs fans from chewing off a hand. It also greatly amused Freeman when he came over to take a corner near the end. Hope they keep that one in reserve for similar occasions next season 😀 |
| News Comment | Langford takes Wednesday visit - Referee at 12:15:56
Love reading your stuff Clive, but really 'comfortable defeats TO Norwich...'? I see you are infected by this appalling ungrammatical meejah misuse of our language. FYI nobody was ever defeated TO someone FFS! Sorry, rant over. |
| News Comment | QPR's second half rally comes up just short - Report at 08:47:58
Very encouraging loss. Moving Robinson into the back four transformed the defence and Eze for Cousins turned out to be a shrewd move. Promising all round performance from Eze, including the pass of the match to Wzolek inside their full back. Hope Ollie has the guts to start this lad soon. |

A brilliant run through and summary of how we ended up in this shit situation. I know you’re as pissed off as the rest of us - never heard you so downbeat on the podcast - sounded like you were on the verge of phoning the Samaritans! It’ll seem a lot better when we’ve thrashed Wolves on Saturday:-) |

Hard to have any sympathy for Millwall, but that's bang out of order, and how it could still have a chance of getting through is beyond me. Blatant corruption of that sort needs to be stopped in its tracks - well done to The Grauniad for exposing it this time, although I suspect it goes on in more local councils than are ever uncovered! |
| News Comment | Goodnight Springton, there will be no encores - Preview at 08:31:15
Great realistic summing up of the season. I can only hope Clive has a truly therapeutic summer, as I don't think I can face next season without being able to read his stuff. PS Jim Beam and coke? That's a crime against drink!!!!!! |
| News Comment | QPR finally safe after hollow Forest victory - Report at 09:26:37
After about 80 minutes, with the Rs 2-0 up and retreating like it was Dunkirk, the guy who sits in front of me turned around and asked imploringly 'We can't lose this from here, can we?' A proper Rs Fan! When we got to 50 points, around 7 games ago, a similar thought came to my mind, having looked at the run in, and f*ck me, Holloway nearly managed to do it! This season has been a huge disappointment on the playing side, both under JFH and Ollie, although as others have pointed out, the Club is now much better managed in other respects. Sadly I have very little confidence that next season will see much of an improvement. I expect we may well finish somewhat higher in the table - anything else will be disastrous - but I really don't expect to see us emulating one of the teams Clive quoted (Burnley, Barnsley, Brentford, Huddersfield et al), who have achieved a stability in personnel and playing style we can only dream about. Oh well, we'll have a nice day out in Norwich and not give a tuppeny f*ck about the game! |
| News Comment | Rampant Rangers run four through sorry Blues — Report at 10:02:45
Great read thanks Clive. Amazing to be at an Rs display like that! Felt sorry for Bidwell, who had an heroic afternoon IMO, playing the entire game with no real cover, other than midfielders scampering over to try and help out when needed, which was ominously frequent. Fair enough Ollie, it gave us a real attacking edge, and worked out for us, as Brum couldn't make it count, but Lua Lua and Ngbakoto for Wszolek and Washington at 3-0 was pretty f*cking gung-ho. Yeah the free kick was terrific, but I'd have taken 3-0 over 4-1! |
| News Comment | QPR's second half rally can't prevent predictable outcome - Report at 09:40:41
Was Furlong not fully fit, or being punished by Holloway for the Blackburn goal? Either way we started with a nonsensical defensive setup against an attacking side bang in form. No wonder the first half went the way it did. Get it right from the start Ollie, or we'll continue to have to try and come back from a deficit!! |
