That's all right then - as long as they're fine! I still don't think it was an obvious red, but we were playing 10 v 12 today, and should have lost 2-1 at worst. Professional football makes me sick. |

We don't need to 'move on' and 'forget' this game as soon as possible, Marti - we need to look back, if anything, and scrutinise both the Millwall and Blackburn games now to understand why we are so ineffective. True leaders are Janus-faced (or 'two-faced' in the best sense). |

My view after reviewing the Sky highlights. Varane's tackle was a yellow, but certaiinly not a red. Smyth's goal was indisputably good. The ref, I suspect, is bent, taking his performace as a whole. Amazed that Marti seemed so accepting of how the above went in his post-match interview, but then again he was interviewed by someone who sounds about ten years old and who's obviously reading from a script handed to him by Nourry. At least, Nick London would have given it a bit of passion rather than anesthetising us as we watch. I'll say it again: if that match was justly officiated, I'm Dennis Wise! |

I'm still spitting feathers over it, and I'm amazed others aren't doing likewise. The goal was great, and you'd have to have cataracts to argue otherwise. Cook should have been getting in the ref's face and demanding accountability rather than leaving Smyth to rant and rave, as he was clearly happy for a clutch of their players to do likewise over Varane's red. But when the ref's a cheating/inept c*nt, what can youe do? The club should make an official complaint, as 2-1 could (and should) have made it interesting. However mediocre we've been today, we've also been completely bummed in the gob over that, and arguably the sending-off. [Post edited 28 Sep 16:49]

I'd suggest the last two performances, today's and the MIllwall game, were unacceptable, and Marti needs to explain himself, rather than giving his usual urbane assessment on the Offish. (Though it looks like it won't be at the Fans Forum. ) He's had three weeks of training the team of late, and we seem to be going backwards not just on the tail-end of last season but in the early stages of this one. Frankly, we look half-fit, half-arsed, and half-cocked. |

Is there something mentally wrong with Field as a footballer? Runs forward with the ball, gets us a bit up the field, then turns around, runs the other way, and gives it away. Words seriously fail me! |

That goal from Smyth was well won and absolutely fine. I hope the ref crashes his car on the way home, as he's obviously inept, bent or both. Utterly scandalous! |

Tbh, he does seem a bit of a fan sedan! |

You're well off the pace, mate - don't you read the news? The whole point is there WAS a whole raft of complaints against him at the time that were covered up/suppressed, and the CPS failed to act on at least two folders of evidence/allegations that were handed to them by the police (probably because they're corrupt themselves). |

There's no 'arm in it. |

Why not do the more interesting/difficult thing of watching them and then engaging with what you see? |

Great quote - and an excellent Pablobian check on the ridiculous prohibition on 'failure' (whatever that means) in the modern game. |

Might it not mean, if anything, the crowd could be more sedate(d)? |

A rather good question for the FF, I'd have thought - have we not just got rid of evil Les, but got rid of the position of DoF as well? Wonder if Nourry will have a good answer. |
| Forum Reply | Marti on Blackburn at 22:50 26 Sep 2024
Not confident - I see them beating us fairly comfortable by a couple of goals, I'm afraid. Marti had two weeks during the international break and talked a great game as usual, then we got the dross of the bizarre draw at Sheff Wednesday. They're unbeaten all season, second top div goalscorers, and our record agains them on their own patch is hardly stellar. However, it's footie, and stranger Rangers things have happened, so hopefully my prognostications are sub-Nostradamusian. |

'Dark arts', my arse! What's remotely 'artistic' about it? If the ref adds on the correct amount of time, 'running the clock down' is a meaningless term, although of course the play is 'broken up' regardless. It's just more contempt for the paying fans, of course, as well as the game itself. A lot of modern football is about not playing football as much as playing it, and it's definitely getting a lot worse. It started, I'm sorry to say, or was at least significantly accelerated by, the arrival of foreign players. Has a player ever been booked in the PL for simulating injury, I wonder? I suppose if they were, a lot of games would finish as six-a-sides. If refs just applied the rules and got (actually or unactually) injured players off the pitch without delay and issued cards for obvious simulation, perhaps some of this offensive bullsh*t would be flushed out. Obviously, the football authorities don't care to. [Post edited 26 Sep 22:41]
