Looking to get a steer from those with knowledge of the above. I’m quite impressed by the torque/acceleration of PHEV’s, but….. do you only get that when the battery is charged up. E.g. with a 11.5 kWh / 1.5 litre engine, do you only get high performance in the first 30-odd miles before the battery discharges and then it reverts to the sort of acceleration you’d get from a normal 1.5l engine? | Forum Thread | Insurance claim? at 07:32 22 Sep 2023
Seeking a little advice from this knowledgeable community please. I noticed last week that my front porch is starting to drop on one side - the supporting wooden beams are splitting. I got a builder round pronto who has put scaffolding up and says he'll take the tiles off the pitched porch roof to reduce the weight, and see where we go then. I had assumed it's just the pain in the arse / cost of home ownership but someone asked if I was going to claim on insurance. For those with knowledge in such things.... is it worth me trying the insurance company or would they say it's preventative maintenance and my responsibility? Or have I left it too late now the scaffolding's up? Many thanks in advance! |
| Forum Thread | Working class or middle class roots at 13:50 11 Jul 2023
Countless sociologists have spent thousands of hours on research to identify the essence of class roots. I could have made it simple for them with one irrefutable test. It’s a slightly warm day and you don’t want to wear your jumper. Do you (a) tie it round your waste or (b) drape it over your shoulders? |

Interesting to hear he was an R’s fan! Anyone know much about him ( as a fan or as a coach?) |

Apologies if it's a Spackman, as I'm rarely at the forefront of technological references, but I'm wasting far too much time on this at the moment. For those who don't know, it's a worldwide map reference - it divides the world into 3 metre squares and gives each square a unique combination of three words. So, you can see the 3 words that map to your current location / where you sit in Loftus Road etc. For example: Queens.park.rangers is near Beacon, New York There isn't a loft.for.words - nearest is loft.fork.words which is near Easton, Maryland |

Just saw him at Finsbury Park - was quite pleased to have to leave early to get the train as I’m all geordie’d out. Yes mate we get it, you’re a NUFC supporter. And in the crowd - hundreds of barcode clad followers getting it in to their loud conversations that they’re geordies? We get it! Mind you, Fontaine’s DC were supporting and were class. |

Hated them since 1976, all through the 80’s and beyond. Never celebrated a non QPR goal as much as Michael Thomas’s at Anfield in 89. As for their self-entitled fans..... However, got a grudging respect for Klopp and quite like Jordan Henderson. Am I mellowing with old age or are they a bit more likeable these days? I think I want them to win tonight and it’s a weird feeling! Anyone else’s views? |

Want to take my teen daughter to her first ever away game - would rather avoid the slightly more raucous seating sections (whilst still getting the atmosphere), so any advice on where to sit / where not to sit would be appreciated! Cheers |

A bit of Friday fun. Lots of corkers of course from Winston Churchill and Oscar Wilde, but I give you Sean Lock talking about Katie Price: "Her skin is the colour of a hangover piss." |
| Forum Thread | If "Super League" players couldn't play for England.... at 08:06 20 Apr 2021
.....I know - a lot of water yet to pass under a hundred bridges, but if it happened: - would Eze potentially make a starting XI (and do we get any extra cash if it happened)? - would an England team still be competitive (I don't really keep up with the 'top' league so not sure how deep the talent runs)? |
| Forum Thread | Which 2 players would you choose from the past? at 12:18 12 Jan 2021
Having Charlie back and thinking of how good a 2013 Charlie Austin would be in this team, got me thinking.... Which 2 players from the past do you think would make the biggest difference to the current team? Much as Stan is my favourite all-time player and the first name down on any Rangers Legends team for me, I think the current team would best be served with the addition of: 1. Sir Les 2. Gerry Francis |

Hello all Long time lurker and I've decided to finally come out of the woodwork so that I can make a financial contribution to this fine site. Big fan of Clive's articles (I'll occasionally read out quotes to my wife and god bless her she smiles and nods, but she doesn't really GET it!). Couple more details - I'm based in West Sussex and go back a fair way in the real world and the online world - e.g. I was there for the Gavin Maguire 'challenge' on Danny Thomas at White Hart Lane that Clive mentioned on another thread, and I was there in the early days of the original QPR.org board with all of the Tommy Nintendo shenanigans etc. Oh, and I'm quite partial to a slice of Epoisses but it doesn't half make the fridge stink. Cheers You Rrrrr's |
