Nice one Clive. Right up there with your best stuff. We shall also certainly miss him - but all want him to go on right to the very top of the game. |
| News Comment | The view from the Pu - March at 14:20:49
Nice piece Steve. However, I have to disagree - don't think that we have done enough to survive - yet. Just at this moment, I feel that we will get relegated, and probably at Wednesday on the last day - just can't see where another point is coming from. Sorry about the negativity but just trying to be objective about it all. |
| News Comment | Coming home to roost — Column at 11:36:56
Excellent, well constructed and insightful piece Clive, thank you. Yes, our saga with the FL on FFP is sure to run and run. Would probably like it to be quickly finalised, reluctantly agreed - and then move on. Unfortunately, that won't happen. |
| News Comment | The season is long and hard... — Knee jerks at 23:56:14
Just want to say that AH's write up was both objective and insightful. It reflected the game and the overall situation that we are now in very well. There is surely going to be a lot of hard and difficult results ahead before CR gets this team/squad into shape. Still a couple of weeks before the window closes - which potentially sees players in and out . Missed Mackie on Saturday - his energy and endeavour will help galvanise. At this moment I wonder if we are physical enough, particularly in midfield, to compete well in the Championship. Let's see overall once that bloody Window shuts and we have a final squad - bar the loans that will probably come in too. |
| News Comment | A way to win - report at 00:36:38
Take a bow Clive, I was wondering how you would write this up. Wonderfully captured - brilliantly written. Choked me up reading it. What an amazing season - who could ever have predicted the outcome in this way. Will start the everlasting ''what did you do when Zamora scored''. Thanks Clive for all your reports - but this one is very special. |
| News Comment | Rangers set up Loftus Road one-off with cagey first leg — report at 19:10:52
Not much being said about Doyle's introduction. I thought that he made a difference playing wide on the right when he was brought on - he looked fit and strong and caused them problems. Yossi has to come in on Monday night too. We really need to get that first goal tomorrow and then see how Wigan react to that. Wigan people very friendly - the M6 was not ! |
| News Comment | Fernandes provides reassurance, talks of writing off debt - fans forum report at 11:25:26
Enjoyed the Forum following it on the Youtube feed. One criticism - could not hear the questions coming from the floor as most people asking those questions were not being aided by a mic. although one was available (I'm sure that all in the room could hear). Was having to guess what the question was - aligned to the answer given. Need to correct that in future. |
| News Comment | Does Mackie sale tally with QPR’s ‘right sort’ rhetoric? at 12:50:57
Absolutely certain that this transfer will come back to haunt us. Mackie gave it everything at QPR - and was far more effective than many realised or have made out. Good luck Jamie - I am sure that you will prosper in all sorts of ways at Forest - and will fast become a fans favourite up there. |
| News Comment | Behind Enemy Lines — The view from Villa Park at 12:13:20
A very good read - thank you. Without doubt my favourite stadium (outside our own falling apart Loftus Road). Have been to Villa Park so many times - proper stadium, good facilities and good home support (when it's going well for them !). Hope to go there again next season for a Prem League fixture - but have grave doubts about that. |
| News Comment | QPR left to lament killer three minute spell — full match report at 11:22:44
It's Monday morning - and have still not got over it (guess I never will). Clive relaying the final 3 mins of the first half really did sum it up. At Sthpton I looked at the big screen and saw the ''additional minutes'' come up at the end of the first half and said just keep it tight and we go in 0-1 up. We didn't ! Same on Saturday - just keep it tight now and we will bounce in 0-1 up. We didn't. We never learn. Cesar totally culpable for the first goal (not better for goals two and three either). Puts his hand up afterwards to admit the mistake - oh good. Can't believe we did not take anything away from that game. Thought Villa Park was great (again). Proper stadium. Good playing surface and brilliant atmosphere. Unfortunately, we were very quiet driving back home after the game. Spent. |
| News Comment | LFW Travel Guides — Southampton, St Mary's at 20:15:25
Relating to Barry's travel advice - does he mean 15 minutes walk to the Stadium if parking in/near Alma Road - although he says drive... Sorry if I am misunderstanding this. Please advise, Barry. Thanks. |
| News Comment | The Iceman goeth at 23:10:50
Great piece Clive. Always was praying that he was on the team sheet over the past 2 seasons - with all the injuries and that. What a player - great intelligence, really brave - and knew how to bring everyone in to play. I think that all those hard earned caps playing alone upfront on his own for one of the minnows as Iceland are at international level honed his game. He came up against a lot of classy international defenders at that level and gave them all a tough time. A bloody nightmare for any defender - with the perfect attitude. A nice Iceman with an unnerving hardness on the pitch. He will be missed - thanks Heidar, I'm sure that you will do the business in south Wales. Good luck to you. |
| News Comment | Possibly the greatest day of all time at 14:41:14
Clive, simply take all the LFW reports from this astounding season, the vast majority written by your good self, add a few photos from the season - and then publish it in a book. You will get a lot of takers and buyers as only you and LFW could have captured the brilliance, the drama and the emotion right throughout this campaign. Thanks - and keep it going next season please. |
| News Comment | Gorkss' double moves QPR six points clear - full match report at 16:38:10
Another good one Clive, well done. Not much to add that differs from other posts, although I felt that we lacked width in the first half and that Hogan was somewhat reverting back to his ''easily muscled off it'' form from last season...and shame on me I got on his back a bit. Dissapointed with Buzz, difficult for him to replicate the Faurlin role eactly. HH was absolutely brilliant - what a clever play he is. Hope the injuries do not take their toll. Tuesday night will be a real battle on the pitch. |
| News Comment | Orr signing addresses age old problem as Stewart heads west at 14:47:25
Couldn't agree more. For all of Stewart's faults, speed was not one of them.He is really quick and very few ever got the better of him in that area. Very solid defender. Actually, looking at the squad overall now - we lack genuine pace all over the place and in particular where it matters most - upfront and across the back four. |
