When we are slowly going nowhere and someone tries to force a pass that isn't on we can get into a real mess.
Is it the players not being good enough or not understanding the system, the manager not being able to get the ideas across or teams knowing how to play against it? Or perhaps a bit of each?
With slow central midfielders and no Rodri to cover them and set the tempo Man City are now very open to fast counters.
Agree that it's the same principle but for whatever reasons, a lot of the time it isn't achieving the objective because it is so slow and predictable. Then it effectively becomes possession for possessions sake as we are not being constructive.
We may not have the quality of Rodger's team but to be effective I agree with both yourself and RichardO we have to move the ball quicker and be more aware of where the new point of attack needs to be.
“They clap, they square the pass, then you play a forward pass and it changes the point of attack. It is recognising the game and that feels good for the players. They do not see that as a negative, it is to start a new attack.”
When it's all about looking to switch the point of attack then there is a point to it. When it is passing it back without looking to switch the point of attack that is a different issue.
Interesting as it appears they are resigned to letting him go but trying to create a story so that if it goes to a tribunal Peterborough will get the best fee.
With his current injury I would be surprised if anyone went in now. But as you implied in another thread it's a funny old game saint.
True and spend the next few months planning a replacement. Just has the feel of another transferwindow that doesn't really go anywhere if that is the case.
