| Forum Thread | Barton on Talksport at 19:09 17 Feb 2018
What a nasty piece of work that Barton seems to be. There are some astute observations when he is playing analyst on a live match, which is fair enough. Good for him. He is no fool. But then there is this underlying needle and confrontational style in that sing song scouse claim which is beyond irritating. |
| Forum Thread | Rio Ferdinand at 02:14 19 Aug 2017
Amazing to think that Rio Ferdinand played 11 games for QPR, most of which we lost and he took over £3.5 million out of the club (£3,500 per minute played, assuming he played all 90 mins of each of the 11 games, which of course he wouldn't have managed). Further proof of the sheer insanity of today's professional game. How on earth can any sane business make any sense of such figures? It's just rubbish. All of it. Utter nonsense. |
| Forum Thread | De Boer at 16:56 26 Jun 2017
Whether you like to hear this or not, and Palace are a Premier League side at the moment, I think someone like Frank De Boer is what this club needs now. A Dutch or perhaps German manager to create an attractive style of football, fresh culture, bring on younger players and win over the fans with entertaining football that may not always win, but is good to watch. Instead, what do we get ...? 'I'm looking forward to my 30th year in management and working with this exciting group of players to move the club forward blah blah blah' yawn.... Subtext: 'And if it doesn't work I'll still a) get paid very well every month and b) get paid off handsomely if sacked. We really have come almost full circle from 2004/05. Really hard to get enthusiastic about this ongoing saga any longer. We are stuck. CR/ |
| Forum Thread | Our Cup Final - Nottingham Forest at Home at 19:41 22 Apr 2017
That's it folks. We have a Home Cup Final with Nottingham Forest, which we may not even need to win, as long as we get at least a point. Bear in mind we will almost certainly lose at Norwich. So it could be a win or at least draw with Forest, or we may just find we are gone. How on earth did we get here? Two successive runs of six straight defeats do not help. Simple. I think fans have every right to feel pretty angry that it has come to this. Let's just stay up FFS and pick over the wreckage of this season in the summer. Ollie's record now can hardly be any better than Jimmy's? Disillusioned. Utterly. |
| Forum Thread | Relegation creeping up at 16:49 14 Apr 2017
Carry on like this and we might just get sucked down. Now seven points clear with five games left. Stranger things have happened. Could come down to the last day now. Norwich away. CR/ |
| Forum Thread | Rangers in a Relegation Battle? at 23:07 1 Feb 2017
Pretty good performance today from Rangers against a strong Newcastle side on their home patch. Well worth a point from a game I'd written off as a 3-0 defeat. Just wondered how confident everyone is that Rangers won't get sucked into a genuine relegation battle? Probably need 18-20 points from our last 17 games. I like to think this side has enough to end up 16th or so, but ...then again, I'm not convinced. [Post edited 1 Feb 2017 23:11]

Well if anyone had any doubts, I would hope now they are dispelled. If you can't score you're really in trouble, and we can't. This season is about survival. Simple. Rangers must avoid relegation to League One at all costs. It seems what we have is not quite enough, and so some serious horse trading in the January transfer market is required to support Ollie's enthusiasm. We all know 2-3 back to back wins can change things dramatically, especially in the Championship. And we know that Rotherham and possibly Wigan may really struggle to get out of trouble. Lots of games to come, and time to turn things around. CR/ |
| Forum Thread | Holloway hanging by a thread...? at 15:42 10 Dec 2016
Regardless of the result today at relegation doomed Rotherham (who have not won in 14, always a good time to play QPR), I think I'm watching Holloway on the very edge. I watched perhaps half a dozen of Holloway interviews over the last month or so. What I see and hear is an endless rambling about 'passion', 'dying for the club' and 'transforming the culture'. The England FA rant about 'who are ya, I mean who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, - I mean c'mon on. What on earth was all that about? Nothing personal against Holloway. He did great last time for us, and remains popular. I just find him far far too desperate, almost incoherent in his enthusiasm. I reckon we'll lose or perhaps draw today at Rotherham. Then what? His appointment almost smacks of 'we've tried everything else, and that hasn't worked, let's go back to an old friend who knows the club and try him...'. Just feel increasingly uneasy that this latest experiment may end in tears. Coolranger/ |

I've watched his last few interviews, and in particular the first one since being appointed, which seemingly went on forever. He just doesn't seem all there to me. Rambles on endlessly with meandering almost incoherent answers to most questions. The FA? Who are ya, I mean who are YOU?? Huh, who are ya?? I think he's cooked. Out by end of the season. My prediction. |
| Forum Thread | Ollie's Press Conference Ramblings at 16:16 22 Nov 2016
Nice to see an old friend return to Rangers, but I was slightly bemused by his press conference last week. Looooong ramblings about the state of the nation, football, the FA, players' mentality and just about everything else that popped into his head during a 3-5 minute diatribe answer to simple questions like "Ollie, how would you like to take Rangers forward?". Clarity of mind. Clarity of communication. Not here. Nope, this is all about 'passion'. Therefore, the longer your answers, the more you care, the more passion you have, the more the fans will love you etc. Can't fault his desire to do well and his honesty. Just hope there is some sensible thinking and decision making behind all the bluster. |
| Forum Thread | Black Humour time....will 50 points be enough to save us from League One? at 17:48 29 Aug 2015
Well, with just 241 games left in this Championship season, Rangers still need another 40 points at least I'd say to have any hope of avoiding a drop down to League 1. Would others agree with a 50 point target, or do we still revert to 52 or 54 points as the new lifeline? When did we last win at home? Must be over a week now. Must get another six players in by monday afternoon. Rangers....21st from bottom and just 18 places above the drop zone. |
| Forum Thread | Chelsea Relegation Fears Grow After Palace Storm the Bridge at 17:31 29 Aug 2015
The natives in the blue half of "Fulham" are growing increasingly restless as Chelsea continue to splutter and misplace their lines. It seems the Champions' machine has a malfunction or two. This latest home defeat, this time to a resurgent Crystal Palace, leaves Chelsea desperately chasing some form while Manchester City have already built an eight point lead over Chelsea. Mourinho may just be starting to cast an anxious look or two over his shoulder.... |
| Forum Thread | Cup Competitions... Why Bother? at 23:16 25 Aug 2015
Seriously, why do Rangers even bother to enter the League Cup and the FA Cup for that matter? Feels like the last FIFTEEN YEARS we have embarrassed ourselves EVERY YEAR with defeat to lower league opponents, often at home. We've become Cup Bankers. Carlisle are 20th in League 2 playing 300 miles away from home and beat us. Last season it was MK Dons I believe, or was it Telford, or Dulwich Hamlet (both 'difficult places to go in the Cup' blah blah). We've had Vauxhall Motors and all sorts in between. I think consistent 'upsets' over such a lengthy period reveal a real weakness within the club's culture. A lack of steel, determination and pride in our history which undermines whichever players wear the hoops by and large. So now we know, our reserves are not up to lower League 2 standard. Chance to go to Anfield and at least have a game there - blown. Rant over. |
| Forum Thread | Sherwood - my word he is an arrogant man at 23:09 7 Apr 2015
Very cocky, very up himself. Likes talking about himself in the third person, which is always a give away. We did well to avoid him. Expensive. Unproven. Not sure there is anything with him beyond 'average' ability at this level, if that. Oh and to answer the media pundit who said, 'wow, there's a manager showing 'passion!!' - so would you if you were on a £2 million bonus to keep the Villa up. |
| Forum Thread | 35 Points.....? at 21:55 7 Apr 2015
I think 35 points MIGHT keep a side up this season, just. In simple terms we need to win 3 out of 6 remaining games to have half a chance - most likely being Newcastle (H), West Ham (H) and Leicester (A). Scenario B would be nicking a point off either Chelsea, Liverpool OR Man City and maybe 7 points from the remaining games = 34 points. Anything less than that I think will be curtains. But the beauty of the league is that you have 38 chances to prove yourselves worthy of being in the PL, and so we are where we are for a good reason - 20 defeats... 58 goals against....invariably we ship 2 goals every game. |

1. The highest quality 'competitive' league in the whole of Europe 2. The 5th best supported league in the whole of Europe 3. Numerous 'big' clubs with great traditions and strong fan bases 4. New London derbies we might actually win, and some we can even walk to! 5. Another chance at a Wembley Play-Off, given 'we don't do Cups' 6. The likely excitement of 'being in the promotion mix' 7. A chance to score more than 2 goals in a game, on a regular basis 8. A chance to keep more clean sheets 9. A chance to win MORE than ONE away game in a whole season! 10. A chance to compete in something where we can be 'competitive' 10. A chance to dream again instead of.... 11. Going home 3 out of 4 weeks with your hopes crushed 12. A chance to ENJOY more games and be ENTERTAINED again!!! 13. A chance to SMILE AGAIN on a matchday Don't know about the rest of you, but from where I'm sitting this doesn't look so bad. We'll come back to the PL in a few years, but let's go and have some fun with this lot for a while first!! |
| Forum Thread | Cricket World Cup - News Flash! at 11:44 9 Mar 2015
ICC Organisers have switched the Group format to ensure the top 6 go through to Round 2 and split into two groups of six to be re-drawn and played through April and early May. England now need to defeat Afghanistan to make the top six in their Group. Peter Moores should now resign. Will be interesting. KP will be laughing his head off. |
| Forum Thread | Bored -We're gong down at 19:17 7 Mar 2015
Today was our Waterloo. And we lost. Fact is we have lost 1-2 at home to two of the better sides within 4 days. Big effort, 'unlucky', could've, might've, should've, would've....etc' - we didn't.For the umpteenth time we didn't. What is it now, 19 defeats in 28 games? That is relegation form. We are down. Prepare for it. Enjoy your summer. No complaints. Always a Ranger!! |
