Left there last week thankfully after my Dad was taken into hospital(ICU) out there for 3 weeks ; what a surreal experience that was but I have to say I cannot speak highly enough about the promptness and efficiency of the Spanish health care system ; after reporting his rapidly declining condition to the reception of our hotel he received an emergency visit from a doctor within 20 minutes and we were then ‘blue lighted’ into a private hospital by ambulance within the hour and admitted DIRECTLY into Intensive Care.
He was in ICU for 5 days then on a ward for 8 days and we eventually flew back home on a ‘repatriation flight’ last week where a UK based GP flew over to meet us and accompanied us back to the UK.
Anyway, he’s back home now in a local care home temporarily but that is after a traumatising experience at Morriston hospital where he had to go for admission ; quite frankly it was like experiencing a third world healthcare facility compared to Spain.
Just thought I’d share my personal experiences and be good to hear from Keith if the care my Dad received is ‘the norm’ or unique for private health/insurance cases ?
Totally understand that both you and Phil must be somewhat despondent Keith given the apparent apathy surrounding the current International break etc, however, given that the break is for the ‘Nations League’ fixtures I truly believe that older football fans like myself who have experienced top level competition for our country over many years and indeed the very competitive Home Internationals back in the day really cannot ‘buy in’ to this new ‘cash cow’ of a competition.
Just my opinion of course lots will disagree 🤔🤷🏼♂️⚽️🏴💪
My late Grandmother used to treat me to a Knickerbocker Glory in Joe’s St Helens Road back in the early 1970’s when I was about 8 years old wonderful memories ❤️
Watching in Spain with the family it’s San Juan night here in Andalucia bonfires on the beach and a midnight swim later.
Having witnessed our demise to the cheating Jocks at Anfield in 78 and again at Onion Park in 85 I hope their hopes go up in flames as well tonight 🔥🔥🔥
I was interviewed by SSN in Doha at the last World Cup on the day of our England game and my feeling throughout was that they thought we were there simply to make up the numbers (probably true but please cut out that ‘English arrogance’ …….why does every other Six Nations country wish England to lose I wonder ??
An English ‘gentleman’ behind me with his family totally disrespected our anthem calling us everything under the sun so for the first time EVER when GSTQ was played I sat down back to the pitch & stared this Kent in his eyes he was a bit quieter after that !!
First class work by everyone involved on the site which is much appreciated 👏👏👏 Very enjoyable news articles and quality content not to mention the ‘highly entertaining’ exchange of views, discussion and humour of fellow posters on the Swans board, football in general and the non football board.
Onwards and upwards into next season and a special mention too for Keith and the brain tumour charity very best wishes and continued support as ever 💪💪💪
Very sad news only just seen this as away on holiday.
An absolute gentleman was Terry I played with Cameron for a spell in the early 80’s and one day Terry took me to one side and showed me his Spurs double winners medals from 1961 such a proud yet humble man sincere condolences go out to Joyce and all the family ❤️❤️
