October last year I went to Dubai for a family trip. After arriving at the hotel I do what I always do..... .. Get the groundhopper app up and see what's around..... Just for interest. I saw a game the next night about a 25min taxi ride away. Can't remember the team now but had a quick look at the squad and didn't recognise anyone. No need to test the water then on my chances of checking out a game. A couple of days later it was replayed on TV and Adel was playing for the away team. Couldn't believe it. Would've given it a big You Rsss.... Lesson learnt for next time! |

I wish they would bring the treatment without stopping play into football. I don't know why they haven't at least trialed it before. Waiting for, and receiving "treatment" is surely the number one time wasting technique. Must be at least worth a go. I would introduce that above everything else with the option of the club doctor signalling to the ref that it is a really serious injury. In which case, the game could be stopped if necessary(suspected broken leg for example). The 30 seconds off thing won't make any difference. It will still take ages for the physio to come on, play the game and slowly all walk off together. |

The problem with the stop clock is that the ball is actually in play for an average of 50-55 mins I read once. Adding an extra 30 odd mins to a game doesn't appeal... especially to an away midweek game. When players are "injured", why can't the physio run on during play like they do in Rugby? Just play around them. No need to stop. Also, there should be a universal time allowed from the 1st minute for all throw-in and GKs. Say 10 seconds. I guess there is a rule for GKs but it isn't enforced until the last couple of minutes. The amount of time it takes for these long throw specialist to set themselves up is a joke. That alone must take 10mins out of a game. Don't know why they are allowed to take as long as they like to dry the ball? Personally don't think we lost yesterday due to the officiating but the bigger picture of time wasting needs to be addressed. Obviously wont be...... but feels good to let it out. :). |

Exactly this. Not that long ago I heard Ruben on the podcast say that a player could be the best around, but if he is the "wrong sort" (or similar, can't remember the exact wording) he wouldn't be for us. This guy is the wrong sort. He was lucky not to get booted out of Derby. In an alternative set of circumstances he could have killed someone and be inside. I understand everyone makes mistakes etc..... but this is not your everyday mistake and should be treated as such. Really hope we don't put any of our hard earned in this guys pocket. |

Yeah, it's a good point about giving it the "didn't pass a late fitness test" line if the negotiations hadn't got to Mannings stage at that time. We would have all known it was rubbish but it's about playing the game with these things. |

I think it's a bit harsh to blame the club to be honest. They have their stance on this and judging by the comments on here offering different opinions on how to make the remaining months of his contract here as difficult as possible it would seem most would seem to agree with this. If people start sending him abuse over social media that's not the clubs fault. |

Marvin Robinson. Saw him come on as a sub against us for Tranmere in 2003. We were 1-0 up, he came on got a goal and assist I think and won the game for them. He looked unplayable that day..... Ended up as a lower league/ non league journey man. |

I always thought Wimbledons home ground was Wembley. Not because I'd seen the 88 Cup final.... Just because they sound kind of similar I guess. Years later my mate told me he used to think the same thing! |

Yeah, it's a good point. I remember years ago when Brendan Rogers was at Swansea. They lost the game and the goal came from a howler like yesterday. I can't remember who the keeper was but afterwards Rogers said "I take full responsibility for the mistake, I ask the team to play out like that so every now and then things like this will happen". |

I thought on the whole his distribution was pretty good apart from the mistake. The problem is he's not this type of keeper whose core skill is being able to pass out from the back. He can practise and improve, but ultimately if you want your keep to perform this job for the team then you need to find a keeper who's comfortable doing it. Lumley is a good GK, but probably not the GK for this style. |

Although 3-or 4 mil may not be what most Rangers fans value him at we have to leave it to the people in power to make the call and trust that it is in the best interests of the club. This isn't the same strategy we had in the prem seasons so to keep throwing that at the club everytime there is potential transfer of one of our better players is unfair. They cocked up, they know it.... they won't do it again. Let's draw a line under it and move on. We need money, everyone knows it so I'm pretty confident the club wouldn't just sell someone without putting much thought into it given our current situation. The fact that they have allegedly rejected a bid already should back that up. They have all the facts and figures and I'm sure will make the best decision for the long term stability of the club. I know people talk about the Smithies deal.... I was one of them but it was only after he left that I found out he actually wanted to go. Anyway.... ultimately I'm sure both ourselves and the club want as much for him as we can get. |

I would put this in as well. A big reason is because people try to take more and more into the cabin with them. If you get on towards the end, the cabin crew will quite often tell you that there is no space for anymore cabin bags and you have to check it in. This happens quite a lot on the airline I work for. I get that people want to get away quickly after arrival but the standing up for ages waiting before departure and after arrival always makes me chuckle. |

Love this thread.... Its kind of therapeutic. More came to me over breakfast! - People who use Facebook to post absolutely pointless things or pictures just to get a response. Hate it. Only had an account for 4 months before deleting it. - People who send text / What's App messages for the same reason. If you wouldn't phone someone to have the same conversation you are having via text..... Why are you having it! - People at airports at times of disruption who constantly moan that "nobody is giving us any information". As someone who has spent most of their working life working for an airline I can tell you that sometimes their is no information to give. Most of the time we are waiting for or trying to make the correct decision in each case before announcing send "information"...... So just wait. Feel much better now. |

People who walk around in public using their mobile phones on speaker mode. I see this all the time.... why? 99% of the time they are walking along the street holding the phone to their ear anyway struggling to hear.... how about just using it properly in the first place and you may not have this issue!! |

I saw Vine playing up front for Southall on Tuesday night. Socks rolled down Jack Grealish style. Did nothing the whole game (including running) until injury time when he hit one from about 25 yards against the bar! On the Bobby Zamore topic........I think a lot of people forget how good he was for us towards the end of that promotion season. Granted, for most of it he was pretty awful but didnt it turn out he was playing with an injury? Once that was sorted he was actually one of our better players and I remember thinking at the time I couldnt remember a player who had gone from fans fighting in Ellerslie when he came on as a sub to the whole stadium chanting for him to come on a few months later because he bullying all the CBs and playing the hold up game brilliantly. |

Yeah your right. In his earlier days at Spurs he did an interview in a paper or magazine and said he didn't like football, never watches it and doesnt look at the league table or fixtures. I met him once when he was flying to Cameroon with Alexandre Song and he actually came across as a nice guy...... |

Yep..... although I'm sure the ref would've found a reason for a retake. |
