The only way that I can see any kind of parity being restored is a wage cap. Spend what you like to buy a player but here's your budget for wages. Additional perks would need to be included as well, so no longer buying a house for the player's mum. It won't happen of course because it would just put English clubs a a massive disadvantage compared to the other teams in the Champion's League. If the best players start leaving for France and Germany then the TV revenue will fall and the poor players will have to cope with 10s of million pounds a year rather than hundreds. As for parachute payments, what always gets me is the double counting. A couple of years back Burnley get their parachute payments to pay the wages of their premier league players. Fair enough, they need to be able to assemble a mildly competitive team in the top division. But if they start selling players after relegation like Pope to Newcastle for £20m+ then they should no longer get the money to cover his wages. Any contract signed as a premier league club is subsidised by 50%, 30% and 10% (or whatever) over 3 years but only up to the point that they own that player. |

Somebody on here a while back suggested using magic hat. I’m not sure on the rules of how long to wait before re-using a tune ‘belonging’ to someone else but Kev’s been gone a while now. First part courtesy of previous poster. My second part may need some work. Jimmy Dunne is magic He doesn’t need a hat If you chuck a brick at him He’d head the fkr back He’ll put you in his pocket He’ll put you in row one Coz Jimmy is a Ranger We all love Jimmy Dunne Or forget all that and just go Jimmy Dunne Dunne Dunne |

If there is a displayed clock that is in sync with the refs watch and stopped when there are injuries/time wasting we wouldn’t even be talking about the 99th minute. It would just be the 90th minute. |

You can definitely discount Chesterfield from the Derby catchment. Far more Sheff Utd and Sheff Wed fans here than Derby. Chesterfield have a good base too. We even have a Sheffield postcode. You don’t have to go far though. My son is at school in Matlock and his mates are all Derby and Forest fans. |

I would say don't let one experience put you off. I've been taking my son to away games since he was 7 (now nearly 15) and the vast majority of those haven't been an issue. As a northerner we've been to more away games than home and the further you are from West London the more space there tends to be in the away end. There we always be a few individuals or groups who don't adjust their behaviour or language when there is a child around (they may argue why should they), but there is nearly always somewhere else to move to. Give it two or three more away games and see how you both feel. If it's not right then try in a season or two when she is older. |

With the obvious skewing of the Championship due to parachute payments I've been wondering whether there is an alternative. There must be an argument to not having them at all given huge amounts of money that clubs receive in the Premier League. As I understand it the point of the parachute payments are to protect clubs that have to spend large amounts of money to be competitive in the top tier should they get relegated. Do they HAVE to spend the money? Probably, otherwise the 3 that go up will nearly always be the ones to come down. Rather than giving a fixed amount to a relegated club could the payments be tied into the contracts of the players they have? For a contract that is signed when a PL club the PP will cover x% for the remainder of the contract. If the player leaves then they no longer get that payment. In the current set up, if Leeds get relegated, they'll most likely sell Raphinha and get a large payment but they'll also get PP to help cover his wages. You can probably tell I'm far from an expert, so I expect that there are many holes in my logic. |

I don't think Hamilton was expecting Verstappen to lunge into that corner as doing so gave Hamilton more opportunity to overtake in the rest of the lap. The most of obvious place to overtake would be at the end of the next straight, to defend that Hamilton needed a good exit out of turn 5 which he wouldn't have done if he closed the door into turn 5. Maybe this was Hamilton's only mistake and Verstappen took advantage. |

My grandparents once bought me a briefcase for Christmas. One those black square boxy ones with a double combination lock. Not a bad present but I was 14 at the time! |

I was about to say it was just a me issue as I'd not updated my profile since moving house but it looks like I'm not the only one. |

Anyone else having payment issues this morning? It won't authenticate my transaction and wondered if it was a Rangers website issue, HSBC issue or just a me issue. |

I don't get the heat of the argument thing at all. This suggests that the xenophobic thoughts are in there and are contained in most situations and are only expressed when the going gets tough. What we as a club and society should be working towards is not having the thoughts in there in the first place. I can't imagine teaching my children that it's ok to think like that but just don't say it because it would upset people. Does anybody think that it's ok to have a xenophobic Rangers player as long as they keep their thoughts to themselves? We should look at educating them or moving them on as it isn't tolerated to any degree. |
