Anyone know what happened on the corner of Uxbridge & Conningham Roads last night at about 7pm, some poor sod lying on the pavement bleeding very heavily & a trail of blood half way down Conningham Road? Don't think it was footie related...... |

Three games in the following order; Liverpool game when Mackie scored the winner causing total mayhem in R block & wondering how we ended up so far away from our seats after celebrating; Oldham, memorable from some hairy ar*ed stranger kissing me when furlong scored & getting pulled by the law for speeding on the way home; play-off final & kissing Clive after the game! |

Hooray, I just qualified for the oldie season ticket this year by a hairs' breadth so that's £200 in my pocket rather than the club's. I'm kind of challenged - same idiot (me) sitting in the same seat watching the same number of games but for less money. Under the current circumstances I'll suck it up, after all I lost count how much the club made from me over the years. I still retain my card & the box office said it would work for next season. Not that I can't get it on my phone, I'm not a Luddite, just that I don't want to because my life doesn't rotate around it! |

As sonofpugwash was saying earlier The Big Match is on ITV4 every day at about 6pm & they are currently running what seems to be a whole season's matches from season '74 presented by the great Brian Moore. We've featured a few times & it does seems London concentric. I forgot how exciting it was (despite the pitches), no tickie tackie around the box, full on attacking football & some robust challenges but players don't seem to make a meal of it unless it actually breaks their leg! Some of the studio interviews are comical, many are monosyllabic & it's obvious how modern players are so much more media savvy. Plus I like the 'Where are they now' feature, wish MoTD would do stuff like that. Would recommend..... |

Clive, could you let me know to whom I'd write to say keep the refund? Cheers! |

Saw it Sunday. My grandfather joined the Royal Worcesters '17 & was involved in III battle of Ypres on the Somme & I've been on a few battlefield tours in the salient. The film was amazing, better than Dunkirk & good to see it was mostly British actors. The plane crash bit was filmed in the back lot of Shepperton Studio's, I saw the replica Fokker DVII on a sliding plinth every day last summer as I drove to work. Only two criticism's from a historical point of view, they'd learned by 1917 not to flood the established front lines due to the number of casualties incurred, they were usually sparsely manned with a stronger force in the II line but in the film there were literally thousands; & also it occurred to me at the end that when the Devons were chasing the Germans to what is now known as the Hindenburg line how they managed to dig such deep trenches in such a short time? Cinematic licence of course, but nevertheless I can't imagine a better representation of the sheer horror, damage & sheer senselessness of it |

Jesus, thought I was one of the few enlightened ones traveling to this wild coast between Bordeaux & San Seb. Been going my whole life, teenage years mostly in St Jean de Luz & marauding across the frontier as it was then to Irun, San Seb & Pamplona, but now to my house near Arcachon. Now I learn half the world is there & a lot of them are QPR supporters! But it has to be Girondins de Bordeaux for me. |

Row M for me, row L for Neil, in the middle. Big gap appearing behind Simmo & Neil, & next to me. Good view but have to put up with a loud, non-stop commentary & tirade of drivel. |
| Forum Reply | Anyone still not renewed? at 14:07 30 Apr 2018
Hope you don't go Neil, there seems to be a big gap appearing just to your left & I hope it's not because like me you have to listen to the constant drivel from behind us. I renewed but don't want to be forced out of the seat I sat in for about 8 years now just because of the constant commentary & negativity! |

We've got a place near Bordeaux & go a couple of times a year, either flying or driving when we have loads of stuff to take. The Newhaven - Dieppe ferry is relatively cheap & it's only a 4 hour crossing. We depart on the 10pm service, get a cabin for a couple of hours kip, disembark at 4am to miss a lot of the traffic. Driving so early is easy & I've even conquered my bogy city of Rouen where I always got lost! We're usually beyond Bordeaux by lunchtime..... Roads are fantastic in France, toll roads expensive but you could compensate by doing some motorway & some N roads which are often dual carriageways. Remember all the stuff you have to carry in the car (as previously mentioned) like yellow coats (must be in the cabin, not the boot), warning triangle, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, breatlyser kits, etc., etc. - although frankly speaking the Flics are not so concerned about that if they stop you - what they are hot on is drink driving & speeding! The fine from fixed camera's don't yet find their way to the UK but plenty of plod hiding in the bushes, especially on Sundays. Mondays are quiet while they process all the paperwork from the previous days work! I found out the painful way, Eur1500 fine, reduced to Eur750 as I could pay on the spot, instant roadside ban followed by 3-month ban & a compulsory medical before driving again in France. Can't blame them really, my fault, they're trying to get the road deathrate down very quickly. |

You get around a bit jamois, now is California! Listen Matey, if you are coming back to HQ next season don't expect any decent football-related or proper man-talk from your buddy MH, he's really loved up at the moment & the worse exponent of the exfoliating/manicure/spa-day brigade. Fed up of him gazing listlessly into the distance...... |

Plus that nitwit Shearer perpetuating the old myth that we have a small pitch, for heaven's sake someone please tell them it's standard size, do your homework you muppets. |

Stick it out Jamois, hold your head up high & take the moral ground. I remember two occasions when in Poland watching England vs. Poland, both times in bars full of baying Polish supporters, we won the first time & lost the second; I tried to be as magnanimous as possible thinking at least I had retained my dignity. By the way your seat is still free in R block, Mr H & I haven't crossed the divide! |

My wife took me to Cali for my significant birthday, maybe this tip sounds a bit simplistic but the view of the ocean going from the north to the south is better than from south to north as you don't have the other carriageway in the way of the view! |

F**king typical, I arrange tickets for the darts in Frimley for Saturday based on the game being Monday & now it's back to saturday so it's one or the other but not both. It's getting almost impossible to arrange anything more than a few days in advance just in case the game gets switched, thanks Dyer! |

Is it just me & chris1969 that thinks that Faurlin & Hoilett should have been the first subs on, I would have hooked Mbia, Daikate & Cisse & replaced them with Faurlin, Derry & Hoilett. What is it with Mbia & all this falling about stuff? |

What is it with them, got stopped OUTSIDE the turnstile in Elerslie on Monday & was asked to see my ticket, what for I asked, surely if I don't have a ticket I can't get in & will be turned away? What is it then when they ask you going up the steps into the stand, last time I reasoned that I must have a ticket to have got that far surely? No the supervisor said, you are always asked so we can direct you to your seat, bo**ocks I could do it in my sleep. Then what is it with them that if you hang about near the steps during the game they ask you to move on but will stand there the entire game blocking the view? Don't get it. Rant over. Taxi for StratfordBoy! |

Took my wife to see it a couple of years ago as her birthday present, she claimed she'd never heard of Frankie Valli but as soon as the music started I had a job to stop her singing at the top of her voice - much to the annoyance of the people next to us 'cos she's stone deaf - & getting up to dance in the aisle, much to the annoyance of the people behind! fantastic show, I challenge you to sit still, it's impossible! |

South of France for me & Mrs StratfordBoy in July, Las Vegas for a fly/drive in the autumn & then Mozambique for a bit of winter sunshine. Haven't been to the states for about 10 years, think I'll rent some monster truck & drive about a bit, I love finding wierd & wonderful places in the middle of nowhere where the local hillbillies don't even know where Europe is! |
