It was so clearly a fix....we had a Palace player on loan who was allowed to play. The goalie just stood & watched Kulscar's pathetic shot go past him. we weren't capable of beating anyone on that division 6-0!
Excellent city...dead easy to get to..Eurostar to Brussels then ICE or Thalys train on to Cologne in under 2 hours. Plenty of beautiful traditional Brauhauss serving beer...Kolsch in small glasses but plentiful top-ups & traditional German food. Paffgen in Frisenstrasse is a must visit as is Brauhaus em Kolsche Boor in Eigelstein...also Fruh in the centre. Fab views from Koln viewing triangle. Plenty going on along the Rhine & the city centre.
After the home defeat to Millwall in February I thought we looked so poor that I took a look at the relegation odds & saw 33-1 with Sky so I had a £15 punt...so if the worst did happen at least I would get my ST paid for. Prior to the Saturday game I was offered cash out of £147.92 ! Post Burnley cash out now £11.07...so the bookies think relegation now unlikely.
I think it all depends on your generation. If you supported the Rangers in the 50's & 60's Brentford were the enemy...no doubt about that & then we kind of forgot about 'em for 45 years . Now they're back with a much better team than us ...bastards!
Don't you remember the Stan Bowles testimonial at Griffin Park , mid 80's, Brentford v Rangers. Gerry Francis & Rodney Marsh playing. Don't think the crowd was any more than 5,000.
Not an improvement at all on Perch I'm afraid. He is a very poor defender and imo responsible for the 2nd & 3rd goals due to his really sloppy feeble clearances.
