| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:27:06 Montero made the difference for me when he came on - makes no sense to have him on the bench he should be a certain starter next week. Llorente offered us something up front and he was unlucky not to score but well done Fer for being in the right place to follow up . Great start to the season and one that we should now build on |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 18:13:22 Another inept performance where we almost (and probably did to a certain extent) get out of jail. When we went 2-0 down it looked for all the money like Bournemouth would threaten Chelsea's tally of last season but with two bits of good fortune we got ourselves back level but never really looked like scoring again during the game. Too many players looking like they are not up for the fight which is the bit that is more worrying and disappointing than anything. The passion and desire is just not there at the moment and with Liverpool, Leicester and Man City to come next then it could be a long winter ahead. Where was the performance we were promised? |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:57:31 You cannot have 66% possession in a match and not trouble the goalkeeper. We have too many people off form and we seem to be shoehorning certain players into the team just to give them game time. We need one of Cork or Britton in midfield at all times to create a better balance to the side and I am not sure that Ayew is a right winger. There is no point in blaming one individual on the pitch for the run of form that we are on but the sheer fact that we have failed to score in 6 of the last 9 games tells you much about where it is all going wrong. If I look back to thoughts at the start of the season, the midfield would have been 1 of Cork or Britton Ki Shelvey or Sigurdsson Now three months on it would be 1 of Cork or Britton 1 of Ki or Shelvey 1 of Sigurdsson or Ayew Routledge/Barrow/Montero to provide the width (would have added Dyer to that if he was still here) Gomis or Eder up front (or possibly Ayew I still think is worth a shot) |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:27:45 Hugely entertaining game and could easily have gone either way. Think we missed Cork today more than we realise and I firmly believe that either him or Britton should always be in the team. Ki bottled many challenges today that I don't think either of them would have bottled. Fernandez must have done something bad in a previous life as he is so unlucky when it comes to bringing the best out of a goalkeeper but all in all more than happy with a point and that sets us up well for coming back after the international break |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:05:58 Again we were below our best and we were suitably punished for it. Too many players were off their game and despite plenty of possession we struggled to create any chances and the Southampton defence had a reasonably easy afternoon. That's four games and just one penalty and one point to show for it and that is something we need to address and quickly. The wins over Man Utd and Newcastle seem a long time ago |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 06:20:47 A wasted evening for the Swans with plenty of chances in the game, certainly more than enough to win the game. One of the things we will know from 5 years in the PL is that if you do not take your chances you are likely to win the game and this was proven again last night against a side with recent PL experience. Good luck to Hull in the next round but hugely frustrating that we are out of a competition that we have the ability to go a long way in. I guess there is always the FA Cup... |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 09:47:00 An entertaining game and at times it felt like our goal was living a charmed life. Best chance though fell to Gomis in the first half which he pulled wide and if Ki had been more composed at the end then we could have possibly nicked it with the last chance. Big improvement in performance though from last week and now let's have a look at the COC and see how we get on against Hull in midweek |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 18:07:44 It's a real shame that the international break came when it did as it has taken away the momentum that we had after the Man Utd game. What we need to do though is bounce back - we have not become a bad team overnight and Monk will have the team up for it next Saturday without a doubt |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 18:06:42 For the first twenty minutes Chelsea had no answer to our play and we could (and possibly should) have been 2 or 3 up at that stage. However, this is a side that will push for the title all the way and there is no disgrace in the result that we had. Another win next week and we can kick start another winning run. 9 points from 12, I'll take that |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 18:37:09 Scrappy wins are vital in any season and this was a scrappy win. Was always a potential banana skin after last week but we came through it and lie 2nd. I'll take that ;-) |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:09:27 The safe backwards pass is in evidence too often. This has almost become our first instinct instead of looking to see if anyone is making the run into space. Two decent chances all game could have seen us win but in truth the draw was a fair result given the overall balance of play. our form isn't as good as it could be but we are ticking along and getting results and the return of Ash and Pablo are big pluses from the game for me. Onwards towards next week |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 22:31:38 Disappointing night but with ten changes especially a complete defence it was almost predictable. As much as I enjoyed our run and victory last season this was always likely to be our lowest priority this season given the League, Europe and the FA Cup. Was a little surprised I guess at the extend of the changes but we move on. We don't become a bad team overnight |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 15:29:44 There seemed little doubt that we would win this after the great start and Michu's goal. We were in control from this point forward and a thoroughly deserved three points and the end of a fantastic week on the pitch. 7 points from 9 now in the league and back in the top half of the table. Roll on Wednesday and Birmingham |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 22:41:04 Disappointing night on the European road again but was always going to be low key after the destruction at the Liberty last week. Some players were given the chance to shine but did little to add to their credentials moving forward. Needless bookings could cost us at some stage in the competition but overall it is job done so far and now for the group stages and the next 6 games. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 18:27:24 Disappointing afternoon we clearly arrived for a point and when we went a goal down we pushed on and looked the better side. Pozuelo deserves a start definitely and no no complaints over the result |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 22:15:20 We eased off towards the end which - whilst understandable - was disappointing to watch but overall another totally professional performance that will see us through to the group stages and some lucrative displays. Disappointed with the crowd given its a European fixture but some good performances again on the pitch - would love to see Pozuelo start on Sunday, there is some real class about him |
