Fair points but Cook committed a howler against Leeds, cost us the game, and it was ignored and not sure received a single mention on this forum, Now it's Dunnes form that's tanking and he's been called out for digging out Smyth, Wheras Cook has been digging out his team mates from Day 1 to likewise cover his own mistakes and barely a mention, Dunne's trying to do too much, most touches of a Rs player in the oppositions box, taking the ball out of defence etc Dunne's playing for the team, Cooks playing for himself, we need more from him, as seen by performance from Morrison on Saturday, back from injury, straight in and stepping up. |

Well we could mention the worse defensive error this season, Cooks pathetic shank for Leeds 1st goal, not sure I saw it mentioned in match report but could be wrong. We have a fundamental problem in this team in moving the ball up the pitch, Cook will only do if we're playing 10 men, we know Field doesn't have the close ball control or ability to turn tight with the ball, And Varane who I like is a reactive player who when we're in possession seems to turn off and not offer an option, This team has serious and fundamental flaws and we need our Captain to step up. |

Brave in the air (some leap on the lad) and in the tackle, Puts the like of Madsen & Celar to shame, Well, if they had any pride that is. |

Signs of distress are as we've seen before, Dunne trying to do too much and taking too many risks for the benefit of the team, (nearly caught out a 2nd time trying to beat his man by the dug-out as no-one else was showing) Cook dropping too deep and not stepping out to put pressure on his man as with the 1st goal, but beyond infuriating is him always giving up responsibility to bring the ball out, one square pass to Fox when he had more space nearly tipped me over the edge, Not deflecting from Dunne's mistake but I've seen this cycle before, Cook needs to step up and lead this team. |

Yes, responded to question, Absolutely no colour connotation in my use of the word pals, like Les as a bloke, just can't recall him ever holding Academy and it's abysmal output to account, especially with Paul Hall double jobbing, altho with hindsight understand now why they let Charlie Austin double job, Also was a key factor in our losing someone who could have saved us from where we are heading, with Les, Ramsey etc now been moved on, Reuben clearly backed the wrong horse, Wasn't aware of Nourry appointing his pals, it just get worse. |

Yes that's Charlie, still has family in the Bush, they're Rangers, so likely still holds his affinity even after a long pro career, including as Gus Poyet's no 2. |

Interesting point you make, lets surmise what a vastly experienced professional who errs on the side of honesty might say............... 'Reuben - your Academy is over-staffed, they're over-paid and some are double-jobbing, its not producing jack-shit, it needs sorting' 'Reuben - your DoF, Les, nice lad, media friendly, but just does'nt show any real interest in football, you're paying him over half a million a year , he's protecting his pals in the Academy and they're all stringing you along, it needs sorting' 'Reuben - your employing a 26 year old St Pauls Oxbridge grad who's never played football, knows zero about contracts, has no contacts to do what............ |

So you think this complete u-turn is for the benefit of the fans? The rise of the 3 word slogan is so let's just say gullible types can be controlled, Along the lines of 'not the brightest' or 'thick as..... |

Self Preservation by Nourry, just trying to buy himself time, Reads this Forum, very reasonably called out on disrespectful lacks of comms, Arrogantly ignores until it's in his self interest, Taking the fans for mugs. |

Your final paragraph hits the bail squarely on the head, Question is, why can so few of our fans see this? |

Agree 100% with your last sentence, Who has the contacts & can hit the ground running quick enough to make use of the January transfer window? Who most importantly understands the club (and knows its under-performing staff) well enough to do a cull should we be relegated? When you're up against it, always go for the tried & tested option even if its an 8/10, rather than gambling looking for a 10/10, and hitting zero, Our owners have fallen for too much patter from too many people for too long Ferdinand (even tho I like the bloke), Beale (understandable maybe), Nourry (completely inexplicable) etc, Sometimes in life the hard truth is what you need and our owners were told it before by Warburton and they put their heads in the sand, I was told they belatedly wised up to Ferdinand & his Academy cronies, after letting Warburton go, maybe they'll realise he had their best interests at heart, even if he was thee only one not blowing smoke up their backsides like everyone else (many posters including Northern will have noticed the carry on of Lee, Les etc around Reuben) |

Because I hope our Owners will finally see sense and realise..... A City & Guilds in Painting & Decorating and a UEFA Coaching Badge are not relevant experience for a role as a DoF. Neither is a recently acquired Oxbridge degree or a short stint as a Recruitment Consultant. Only quote I remember from my first MD was...'you'll soon find out common sense is not that common', I'm just hoping owners have finally wised up. |

In very recent times, but amazing how that unbelievable mark stood unremarked on by our press for so long. |

Paula Radcliffe? 20 years later even fully charged Kenyans in go faster shoes working as a team weren't getting close to her Marathon record? Hmmmm |

If they force Cifuentes out & keep Nourry in place & think the fans will swallow that they're more naive than even we think. The fans need to make their voice heard at the Stoke game, Bcos if they force Cifuentes out, keep Nourry and don't bring in Warburton, can you imagine the mood in the Dressing Room and in the Stands? |
| Forum Reply | Mark Warburton interview at 20:38 17 Nov 2024
I agree, But perversely Cifuentes might welcome the air-cover in not having to manage the likes of Nourry, Belk, our Academy Team and just enjoy focusing on coaching the 1st team? While Warburton works on trying to strengthen the 1st team squad with loans for January? Cifuentes has surely seen enough now to realise it's about limiting his reputational damage and getting out in a year or so unscathed and re-employable. |
| Forum Reply | Mark Warburton interview at 17:01 17 Nov 2024
Yes, but he was available for a significant part of the 2nd Half of last season iirr and even a half fit Chris Willock is a great asset in this division, we don't have him this year, one of the reasons I think we're bang in trouble. |
| Forum Reply | Mark Warburton interview at 16:24 17 Nov 2024
Ned, my thoughts are: Q) Warburton wants another Managers Job A) That's his preference but may accept DoF role working with Cifuentes, who may have had enough already (can you imagine being told at work you're new boss will be a 26 year old with zero experience, anyone sane would just think wtf) Q) Did'nt burn his bridges A) They both seem to speak positively of each other Q) Other experienced options A) QPR must be seen as a basket case by now, we're a cash-cow rather than a career move for anyone with any integrity & ability (we need both) |
| Forum Reply | Mark Warburton interview at 13:05 17 Nov 2024
Steve's another top fella, but Warburton has ten times the experience of Steve and is just on a totally different level, We need a strong character who can manage upwards, downwards & sideways, and that's not Steve, as competent as he is in any set given role. |
| Forum Reply | Mark Warburton interview at 12:37 17 Nov 2024
Northern, Your 'So This is Goodbye' was strangely cathartic and should be read by all on this Forum, Your Alan Curbishley prophecy is unnervingly close to the mark, If the fans turn on our decent but hopelessly naive and optimistic owners, we could go full Charlton in the coming decade as we're a financial basket case for the foreseeable future, Whether or not our fans believe Warburton is the all-encompassing panacea as I do or not, We are fast approaching our Charlton sliding doors moment, we need to be careful we don't prompt a further decade that will be worse than the last one. |
