Just finished watching the Turkish Detective - pretty good. The Jetty - first 3 episodes OK, last one was too improbable - don’t know what the good press reviews are about. Nearly finished Supacell- really enjoying it, good twist on Superhero genre. |

Fine if that's how they use agency staff - that's really not the case here. I've spoken to a number of the carers and the managers and they all say the same thing. None of them want / can afford to be full time in what is a very demanding job. The agency staff are used full time - not as cover. Most of them are from overseas. paying full time staff a rate of pay that is fair and meaningful would actually reduce the cost - but no-one is incentivised to do this. |

The thing with fraud is that we tend to focus on what the media tell us to focus on rather than the sleight of hand that those at the top table keep quiet. I came across this real-life example recently and had never really considered it. My Son has significant learning difficulties and lives in assisted accommodation in Twickenham with other adults of similar abilities. There are full time carers supporting them. The accommodation and the carers are of course what our taxes go towards paying for, and I'm profoundly grateful - without that I have no idea what his life would look like. These carers get paid about 23k a year. It's a pretty tough gig. They struggle to recruit. So they get Agency staff in to fill in the vacancies. These are paid exactly the same, yet are charged at 48k a year. Someone is pocketing 25k a year for absolutely no benefit. We're told that paying carers a small increase is unacceptable as it leads to wage inflation - but this is an industrial sized con. Boils my piss - it really does [Post edited 31 May 12:00]

Loved both seasons, but as you say, season 2 is excellent - the Xmas day episode is mad |

When we have our strongest 11 available, I feel we have a team which can compete with most teams in the division - with the real exception of our strikers. There’s never a feeling that they back themselves to score and unless we find goals from somewhere, I think the next few months are going to see us struggle to get out of the relegation places |

Odd that Kerman comes in for criticism. I thought that first half I’d have singled out a lot of others for basically coughing up possession when under no pressure whatsoever. Kelman played out of position on the right and was a willing runner and got some decent crosses in. He faded in the second but I wouldn’t write him off just yet on the basis of that game [Post edited 14 Dec 2023 11:21]

I find it hard to change the narrative in my own head at times. I wasn’t Dozzells’s biggest fan in the past, but to me he’s made a significant step up this season. He has a certain casual style which can at times make him look anonymous, but he’s often the one breaking up opposition play, and of the 2 holding midfielders, he’s the one making the progressive pass forward. Field I think could do with a rest as I think he’s had 2 indifferent games. As for Richards, no worse or better than anyone else in the midfield last night - but he was showing for the ball. As a previous poster mentioned, he’s ours, and under this management, most of our players have shown significant improvement, so I’m happy to wait and see that happen with him. Here’s hoping. |

Was intrigued enough to look at the details of the game on-line. He did indeed play as CF and score a hat trick |

Red card changed the whole game, no doubt. Jack Clarke was a handful anyway, and occasionally, we will pay for the fact that Smyth is a willing but not a natural defender. Thought Bellingham seemed to drift into dangerous areas without getting picked up. I know that some have commented about dropping too deep, but if we’d pushed up, we would have been picked off at will. All things considered, I thought we gave it a good go, but Sunderland are too good a team to play against for 80+ plus minutes with 10 men. |

Just finished second series of Perry Mason. Have to say I thought it was well scripted and acted. Can’t quite understand why no series 3 |
