Wake me up in August 2026. |

I've seen few players as comfortable on the ball as KWP. He's not got the tricks of Boufal, but his close control is sublime. |

That sounds nasty. I guess it could be worse, she could be sitting behind you. Sitting behind me is a grown man with a soprano's voice who whines like a baby girl about everything for the whole of every game. |

I couldn't go to the game yesterday and my youngest who was there texted me this straight after: "We have this stupid tactic where one of our centre backs steps forward and it leaves us so open" Deliberate tactic? Juric-ball? |

You’re right. The broadcasters like controversy but with almost every game having a VAR issue now, I wonder if they’ll get bored of it. And they also wouldn’t like it if they were broadcasting games from empty stadiums. I’m hopeful that eventually more clubs with side with Wolves and what the Norwegians have done. Or if Farage wants my vote he can promise to ban VAR! |

One of the biggest criticism of Ralph. Would make them far too late and often go for the weird over the like for like swap. |

It’s good to know that someone is profiting handsomely from everyone’s matchday misery. This is the nub of it. The only winners at the moment are those with a financial stake in VAR. Follow the money… |

You're getting soft. We're not a charity for Serie A rejects. |

I'd like better owners, obviously. But for as long as these clowns are here, I want them to keep trying to find the right guy. It's not my problem that they keep losing millions by appointing duff managers. They keep gambling on people without the right credentials. Don't gamble if you can't afford to lose your money. If they'd got in someone decent when Ralph left instead of gambling on a mentalist, things might not be so bleak now. |

I think you might be projecting a bit there. Could easily have just been a bit of trapped wind. |

What is the point of keeping a manager who keeps losing and who has made the results worse? Yes, the club is a complete sh!tshow, the squad is not PL standard and those in charge are clearly idiots. But that doesn't mean every manager is as bad as the next. And we should keep binning them until we find one that can actually do a job in the PL. Football is a simple game and if you keep losing as a manager you should get sacked. |

Yes, it ruins every single goal, because you always have at the back of your mind that it might be ruled out - so it ruins even the ones that are OK. The shame of it is that the voices against any sort of VAR system always worried that it would ruin the flow of the game. So, it's not exactly a surprise that it has. It seems to me that no thought at all has been given to maybe lessening the extent to which is ruins the game. Time limits for decisions, that sort of thing. They really couldn't give a toss that it does this (the absolute c*nts). And then maybe we could live with the disruption if it produced perfect and sensible results, but it doesn't. Half the decisions are wrong or very stupid. It's the emperor's new clothes now. Everyone knows it's sh!t, including the clubs, but they don't want to rock the boat for some reason. Probably the amount it would cost in contract compensations just to bin the whole thing. |

In my opinion, he's had an easy ride from the fans. His results are worse than Martin's so that is saying something. But he doesn't play robot football like Martin did, so he's being given a pass on how appalling his results are. We've concended 17 goals in the 6 games he's managed. Got no points. And have thrown away a 1-0 lead in half of those games. 'All over the place' is spot on. |

It makes perfect sense. It's a design problem. VAR tries to work out the perfect answer, whereas it should just be spotting howlers. It's designed to identify the wrong thing. A toe could be offside in a perfect world, but no linesman could spot that, so the question should be was the linesman's decision (or the referee's decision) a fair one. Instead of the VAR result being 'onside' or 'offside' it should be 'reasonable' or 'unreasonable'. So,yes,if VAR can't tell immediately that the ref made an error, his decision must have been a reasonable one. The trouble is, this would leave VAR with very little to do and they love being the centre of attention and spoiling everyone's fun. |

He's no good. He's made the Martin team worse. Let that settle in. One of the worse teams in the history of the PL worse!! |
| Forum Reply | Newcastle Game Matchday Thread at 17:44 25 Jan 2025
The problem isn't just the manager but unless you believe that a manager has no impact on a team, a good manager is always still important. Ralph was better than all who followed him, but was fading. Jones and Martin got 1 PL win each. Selles got 2 (and 4 draws) Juric has got nothing so far. He seems like the worst of the lot. Which tbh is no great surprise. |
| Forum Reply | Newcastle Game Matchday Thread at 17:31 25 Jan 2025
Before Juric we conceded just over 2 goals per game on average. Under Juric we are at just under 3. And he has lost all his games. It's more entertaining to watch his teams than the Martin bore-fest, but let's face facts, he's been another useless appointment by SR who, unbelievably, has made our results even worse than before. There is no point letting him manage us in the Championship because if he miraculously got us up, he couldn't keep us in the PL. Kick him in out now ffs get someone in who has at least a fighting chance of picking up points in this league. There absolutely no reason why a club like Southampton cannot be competing with Bournemouth, Fulham, Brentford, Brighton... |

The job of VAR should not be to decide whether something is e.g. a penalty or offside. It should be to decide whether the decisions of the onfield officials is within the margin of error expected of them. If a reasonable margin of error is assumed, as it should be, then VAR will only be getting involved in howlers, as it should be. |
| Forum Reply | Newcastle Game Matchday Thread at 15:30 25 Jan 2025
Nobody cares! Nobody care that VAR has ruined football. Screw VAR and anyone that defends it. Those w*nkers in Stockley Park just love scratching off goals. They love it. Egomaniacs. They love that the game is now all about them. Give anyone power and they will misuse it. The answer is never to give them the power in the first place. |
