Global warming is bolloc*s.

We are on the edge of an ice age, like we have been many times before.

Never knowingly right.

Man-made climate change is a religion, a faith. If you question their faith they will insult you and call you stupid, because they know logic is not on their side.

Why couldn't one apply your "religion/faith" thing to the deniers? After all, they are the ones who are at odds with the scientific consensus.

Or perhaps we're not. That's what a US Department of Energy-backed research project led by a US Navy scientist says. The arctic could be ice free in summer by 2016 according to this, and it's not Greenpeace or their ilk saying it....

Please would someone publish the names of this "scientist consensus"?Very easy to make bombastic claims - like saying My Little Pony is "everyones' favourite Christmas movie".

A hoax that the 209 lead authors, 600+ contributing authors and 1089 expert reviewers, spread across 55 countries, failed to uncover whilst putting together the latest IPCC report, a report which is arguably the most peer reviewed document ever. Some hoax!

Metallica, have you heard of a band called HIM?

I beleive they are Finnish?

Someone at work has just off loaded a boxset to me. I've never heard of them to be honest.

that's funny you mention HIM as I posted one of theirs on the music thread on Friday, having just found them by chance. Happy little bunch - lot of death and doom

Some of these reactions to a story about the coldest recorded temperature in "pockets" of space in Antarctica are a bit like in football terms using the recent DJ Campbell news as a strong argument that 99+% of footballers are match fixers.

Well done RFA for rectifying your blatent ommission (or should that be emission?

That was realy good especially the late riff.

I must get some more Nuclear Assault, I think I liked another of theirs you linked to a few weeks ago.
Back in the day them, Kreator and Dokken were always in the 'bargain bins' so had a 'shite' stigma. Dokken fully deserve to be there but the other two I should have indulged more.

Another exotic one Blobby. saw her live at the 100 Club a few weeks ago. She liked the pic I took of her *Very blushes*

The thing I don't understand is that if people are the cause of climate change how come no government in the world has limited the amount of people allowed to be born? Seems a far cheaper way to restrict this effect than the billions and trillions being pumped in to green energy.

Think about it, though: global warming and climate change, like, say, particle physics, are complex. They don't lend themselves to a simple explanation. Common sense does simply not work with all subjects.

RFA

Funny how a few years ago the scientists were saying we were either going to over heat or drown due to global warming now its not happened its climate change, something that has been changing since time began, sorry but until its proved to me that its not just an excuse to raise taxes on everything then i will remain highly sceptical.

The thing which I probably find most convincing is that CO2 is a greenhouse gas (as demonstrated by John Tyndall in 1859) and mankind is creating a phenomenal amount of it.

Personal opinion? Humans have been pumping so much crap in the air and so much junk into the seas and using so much of the world's resources in the last 150 years that there is bound to be some adverse affect somewhere. To think otherwise seems almost willfully stupid.

BUT these argument son forums and on comments sections make me laugh because all us lot are really doing is picking a side which suits the way we think and choosing to believe the scientists that follow that view and dismiss or try to debunk the scientists peddling the opposite view. We can fling mud at each other as much as we want, but I suspect we're all hostages to our own beliefs and prejudices. Some, ahem, more than others.

Bare bones.

Of course the deniers are "religious" - or at least ideological. They are all right wing journalists or politicians, virtually none of them with a science degree. Climate change doesn't fit in with their quasi-religious devotion to "the market" so it has to go. Step one is to try to make it into a debate about opinions instead of observation of data.

Funnily enough Maggie Thatcher was pretty sound on climate change, but guess what, she had a science background.

But Kropotkin is right - there's no point trying to debate this stuff on here - you'll only get at best a load of unevidenced opinion thrown about as fact, an inability to follow basic rues of logic [see OP for example] a refusal to accept any rebuttal on the basis that its interference with their right to freedom of speech, and at worst a load of abuse.

How can you have a religion based on "denial".Religion is a positive statement of belief and very little of it is based on logic.
The whole thing is just another left/right wing spat - if you're not with us you're against us.It's probably the most politicised non - political topic on earth. To my mind it all started when nuclear detente and the collapse of the Soviet bloc/communism occurred. No more anti nuclear marches and pressure groups, and very little funding. So where can we find another anti American cause?Voila.
I seem to remember the Greens wanted to have all "deniers" chucked into jail.Mateys, only the Jews could get away with that bullshit tactic.
And so it goes on,the insults fly like some malevolent confetti and the world just keeps on turning regardless.
IMO of course.
