Is the FA cup being devalued 21:00 - Jan 10 with 629 views | vetchonian | With clubs fiehlding " second string" teams is this once great competition losing it's lustre? Wycombe and Portsmouth both fielding "weakened" sides tonight and there has been much suggestion that we should field a side containing few first team regulars at Southampton.

Yes used to be highlight of the season if we got through to the 3rd round waiting the draw. PL have killed it with their greed.

Exactly this along with football on the box 24/7 The only time is gets slightly fun is when a club you've never heard of before gets a home draw against a league team anything else is just meh even the cup final with all those empty red corporate seats

And I hope that it happens sooner rather than later, yes there will be less money all round but then football will be fairer and more enjoyable.

They'll want their cake and eat it though, they'll expect to be in the ESL and the EPL. Any club that wants to go to the ESL should be made well aware that it means leaving the English league system and if they ever want to return it'll mean starting in the Conference. The FA will never do it though, they'll "accomodate" the big teams as they always do. The big clubs won't be happy until they are the only full time teams left, their greed is eternal. The clubs want more and more money only to spend it on larger wages for the already obscenely well paid players who feel entitled to demand over 5 years pay (for the lesser players) and as much as 10 years pay, per WEEK. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Is the FA cup being devalued on 15:32 - Jan 11 with 341 views | jack247 | It’s been devalued for years. Since the rewards for getting top 4 and getting to/staying in the PL dwarfed it. I don’t mind admitting I don’t care about it, whereas growing up I absolutely loved it. 3rd round draw day (if we got there) was one of the highlights of the season. The option of top 3 and FA cup winner would make a bit of a difference to the bigger teams. I’m not sure if it’s even feasible and even if it was the FA would never go against the big clubs on it. Wouldn’t really affect us anyway. Like the league cup when we won it, I’d get interested if we got through a couple of rounds, but wouldn’t be bothered if we went out early on. It’s a shame, because it did used to have a magic about it.

Spot on. Money talks. For the rest of us it will be a good thing. The FA need to do far more to ensure bad owners cannot ruin 100 year old historic clubs in 18 months.
