Traffic Warning…. 13:42 - Nov 21 with 1305 viewscolinallcars

Rivercourt Rd which runs between King St and the A4 Hammersmith, is now a residents only road with cameras, so fines will issued to anyone else driving along it.
It was a popular cut-through to avoid the broadway, so I guess a bit of a 'mare for the residents.

Thank you. It was my usual route. I guess I'll come off at the Hogarth roundabout or go down to the Broadway depending on the directions of Waze.

As for the residents, it was like that when they moved In. It maybe more to do with the changes on King Street which makes getting out the end more difficult and hazardous. You have to cross a two way cycle path whilst pulling into the road.

Yes, the cycle route made it a dangerous spot.
I've received two fines for driving down residents only roads in Chiswick.
I'm not against it in principal but feel it can be dangerous if motorists have to constantly look out for the signs.

Is there such a thing as residents ONLY roads these days?

I thought they had run out of ideas of how to fine us.

Every day is a school day!

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

That cycle route is really dangerous. I used to work at the Chiswick end (right by the old VW place) of King Street some 20 years ago but stopped a few years later. Went across it on my motorbike a few weeks ago for the first time in years due to a detour and had no idea that cycle lane was there as I approached King St and could easily have collided with one.

The labour run councils of Hammersmith and Hounslow have created this mess - Chiswick High Road into Hammersmith Broadway is a massive council created bottleneck!

Only since the installation of the cycle route and removal of bus lanes I have started driving down Rivercourt Road. On the way home its now been so bad even getting to Rivercourt Road on the way home I have started going down Glenthorne Road and round the Hammersmith one way to go back on the A4 towards the A316 adding 4 miles or so to my journey. So much for the environment.

Not sure if they are still there but I remember an outcry years ago about a massively confusing set of signs around Queens Crescent/Weedington Road near Kentish Town. Not only were there a whole heap of signs attached to one pole, but there is a long list of times/regulations as to when you can & can't drive down there.

How the hell is anyone able to process all that information in a second or two?

No wonder they raked it in on fines.

Rivercourt Road runs alongside my alma mater, so one side of it is nearly all school buildings... we used to chuck water bombs at the passing cars. How sad the current crop will no longer be able to avail themselves of this extracurricular activity.

We are allowing them to gradually turn London into a ghost town.

Them being the cycling Stazi and their crazy mates

"Oooooooh... look at the gridlocked traffic" They scream.
Well, you're shutting all the roads or putting "claming methods" in so everything is funneled into smaller areas you knobs!

I was at a Coucil thing a good few months back where the chair of Ealing Cycling Lobby was holding up Amsterdam as a great example.
When I said to him that London has absolutely no similarities to the Dam as the vast majority of our urban conurbation has been there or a century or more he was perplexed. I asked him how he intended to fit trams, cars, buses and cycle lanes down the Uxbridge Road as a main link and his response was "you're not listening".

I don't believe in 'residents only roads'. FFS, you pay a tax for the upkeep of all streets, not fcking individual thoroughfares.

I'd also make cyclists pay towards road tax, and the full force of the fine culture heaped upon them if they stray out of lane, don't wear crash hats, and when they jump the lights. Slightly more controversial: fined for looking a prat in lycra.

And those freewheeling on scooters would also pay a whack for similar infringements. Tripled if they don't have an actual licence.

I don't have a problem with cyclists (scooterists) who appreciate that they share the road, not own it! Applies to walkways along canals, too! Last year along the Grand Union, I had the pleasure of putting a fast peddling cyclist in the drink by Horsenden Hill...only way these ctuns will learn: slow down and use your brakes!

How can you tell who’s a resident or not just by a number plate? Can you not have a friend pick you up,or borrow a car because yours is off the road?

It's easy to spot people that live in my street - well dressed, perfectly coiffed hair, Waitrose shopping bag……

This is my usual route when I drive in for night matches. Can someone remind me of this next time we're at home in the evening. There's no way I'll remember. It could sometimes be busy, but it was never that bad. Just force everyone on to the main roads, that'll make it better. They've done something similar with a road in Hampton, Burtons Road. Nothing allowed down it between 7am and 7pm unless you're a local resident (I live about 300 yards away and don't qualify) Result? Surrounding roads gridlocked during peak times and thousands of fines issued to unsuspecting motorists as the signs are pretty poorly placed. Burtons Road, however, is an oasis of calm

That was the route my dear old Dad used to take for decades. Never seen any issues down there, hardly any pedestrians, traffic not speeding at all. Hardly some sneaky cut through.
In fact it only really queued up more once the ridiculous cycle lane was added on King Street as drivers worked out which direction and from where bikes/scooters/mopeds/buses/cars/pedestrians were now coming from.
More ££££s for the council to squander on other things though.
