I watched Cullen s debut v Palace in the league cup alongside Dan James under Potter. The kids played well. Tyler Reid put in a lovely Cross and it sort of hit Cullen and w ent for a corner. He was18-19.He was a not positioned to head the ball and if fact never looked confident. The ball dribbled for a goal kick.
Only 18 at the time he had a few seasons to develop. Yesterday 7-8 years later Ronald got a cross in and again Cullen was not positioned and got under the ball and again never looked keen to bury it.
Swansea city have never produced a quality centre forward in for the academy or CoE. Cullen is the best over 30 years and millions spent.
If I was Coleman I would be asking the head of academy for an explanation. Mr Wright who I have a lot of respect for has been at the club a long time and can give background.
This is high level games in one of Europe's big leagues. It may seem like picking on him but now there is nowhere to hide. How can a centre forward in the academy for 14 years not be able to head the ball on target from 5 yards?
Kuharevych would have buried that chance.

I’m not convinced he’d have got away from the centre back. He’s the most static striker I can remember. He’s had one good header, which he nearly scored from, I think against Bristol City. He’s bigger and stronger, but he’s very easy to mark |

The point was about technical ability not wages. Ayew came through a different academy in France and learned the necessary techniques to justify huge wages. He can do every Cullen did not learn the technical skills. The academy. Is it up to the job?
There is a reason the academy is not producing local forwards. |

You are correct of course. However you do not need to be past "African player of the year" or on £80k a week to have scored that goal. Kuharevych would have scored it.
Williams according to his coaching mantra has binned Kuharevych on the basis that Cullen does a lot more around the field. Closing down etc. However it currently counts for nothing.
I think Williams has to take a long hard look in the mirror and consider the CBR syndrome. Potter played a much better and more pure passing game with movement and was happy to have a blunt tool ( with respect) like CBR at the head of the team. It was effective. (Grimes and right back by the way). Kuharevych and Vipotnik are better than CBR (Baker Richardson). | |

CBR has only played for teams way down the pyramid since leaving us at the end of his contract. We were trying to get back to the Premier League and had far better in Ayew and Lowe up front. I think the club made the correct decision in letting him go. |  | | |

This is what I would expect you to argue. Williams was part of the selection process and would have given his opinion. Langstaff is doing no better that Vipotnik.
He is frustrated because his selections cannot score with a routine header from 5 yards. A player being at the club training for 14 years cannot plant a header. People say Swansea should pay big money for a routine header.
Cutting costs is necessary with or without restructure.

Right, Ayew is actually a tad shorter.
The thing about technical ability is, you can have the best coaches in the world but the player has to be capable of achieving the qualityr required. Cullem will never be as good as Ayew so comparing the two by talking about coaching is a waste of time. Ayew at his best was a decent EPL player, Cullen at his best is a lower end Championship player. No amount of coaching will change that.
The cross wasn't perfect and Cullen was slightly ahead of it, he couldn't get over the ball and he had to twist his body and heada lot, he isn't capable of that. He is not a natural goalscorer and shouldn't be up front by himself.
The header wasn't his only miss. He's a trier, a hard worker but just not good enough. | | | |
