He was immobile when he was here but did score a few.
I think he is likely to be less effective, couple more years down the line, but maybe Rooney thinks he could still score...
Depends on the wages I feel whether it's a decent deal.

It's only 3 years ago that he was playing for us but it seems like an age. He's a more than 1 in 3 striker over his career but at 33 can he still do it in the Championship? We'll just have to wait and see. |  | | |

More clinical then anyone we've had since. Mad to think we had him and Austin in the squad but both were struggling get starts, compared to the options we've had since. Proven goal scorer, dangerous player in the box but contributes little outside.
I would have signed him as Plymouth have done on a short term deal rather than face the rest of the year with just two forwards, especially based on how badly we’ve started the season. |  | | |

He also topped his stats up considerably with goals in the fag end of a busted season when it had all gone to sht. He scored five times from March onwards, three of those in defeats, two of them penalties including a consolation penalty in the last minute of stoppage time at Preston. Through the entire first half of the season that brilliant winner at Derby was one of only two goals scored in 16 appearances. And I doubt a year tossing it off in Greece has done much for the size of that ars.
That's before we get into the off field stuff.
But, inevitably, he'll score against us if they extend this deal through January.

Obviously he scored a worldy for us but overall I don't look back at his time fondly and I doubt Sir Les does either. |  |

Fairly immobile when he was with us and his fitness was questionable, has done little since and makes you wonder how sharp he will be at 33 having been playing in the Saudi league, not for me. Although we do need someone ridiculous we have Frey and Celar as only Strikers. |  | | |

A dead Norwegian Blue would be more effective In front of goal compared to what we currently have up front, plus none of our strikers have beautiful plumage whereas the Norwegian Blue has beautiful plumage in abundance (even when dead or nailed to It's perch)

He clearly knows how to score a goal at this level, which is a desirable quality at this level. However.... he also has no interest in working for a team who don't have possession of the ball. Unfortunately for him, this is also a desirable quality in the modern game.
I suggest this signing may be out of desperation rather than one which is the missing piece in the jigsaw of a Rooney Masterplan. |  | | |
