Rest of the Championship thread 11:07 - Aug 10 with 69152 views | Hunterhoop | Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc? For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te? Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull. Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

Because they deserve to be there. They should have beaten us earlier this season. A club that has never had the largesse from the premier league and subsequent parachute payments, yet recruit very well. Femi Azeez from Reading and Macaulay Langstaff being excellent examples, acquired for well under £1million last summer and neither looks out of place in the championship. A team that can bring on Watmore and Coburn from the bench, as was the case today, is clearly doing a lot right in my opinion and will be well ahead of us this season. All of their forwards (x4) have scored in the league this season. I can't stand the club, but will give credit where due. [Post edited 3 Nov 19:16]

Looked like Bayo scored with his balls. Gray's volleyed equaliser now for Plymouth showing what we are missing.

World class finish. Shame he didn't do that often enough for us, but we'd kill for anyone who would even have a shot on target at the moment

It is weird that away end. I remember Helguson scoring a goal for us like that at that end and we didn’t know it had happened either.

Mad that some still slag off Andre Gray: a natural finisher and just what we are missing and have done for a good few seasons. Scored 10 goals for us: we’d kill for a player who could manage that nowadays.

He was a bit of a stat padder. Still, that goal at Derby and one at Cov were lovely finishes the sort of which feels so far away now. I think you have to give credit to Rooney/Plymouth as it looked a joke signing. It might still prove to be but can’t argue with the way he’s started.

That is some stat. I doubt if Harry Kane could score 10 amongst this lot.

Totally agree, his record at this level is up there with the very best. Only natural finishers can conjure up goals, on occasions, out of virtually nothing. Neither of those goals is scored by your run-of-the mill centre forward. Well done Rooney on the signing which is at minimal risk to Plymouth, as the initial deal only runs until January. Three goals in just two starts and three substitute appearances is an excellent return on what some may view as a risky signing. A view clearly not held by Rooney. Over to you now Celar.
