Coleman UPDATE [off site] on 20:10 - Aug 10 with 917 views | QJumpingJack | When we were relegated in 2018 - Leon claimed it would take up to 4 seasons in the Championship for the club to be ready for the Premier League again. Six seasons on since our demotion and I feel we are closer to League 1 and than the Premier League.

This is the next level. Up to £23m investment. The upgrade "next level " was never said. Huw Jenkins who stated they could not continue working off the current account as time passed by. He stated that US people had access to much bigger funds from themselves and others Silverstein and Morris. He was correct. Sady managers have been short term people who want unlimited spending power Swansea do not have. Potter ans Cooper left for more spending, spent big and got sacked for wasting millions.. Cooper may face a point deduction at Leicester. (that would make my day). Cooper and martin did not utilise special talents they were provided with Gyorkeres and Whittaker. It is clear to me the recruitment has been beefed up and not before time. The club has returned to the old strategy of hungry young players and a gradiatonal improvement. Potter left a legacy of good passing and four duff signing. Cooper left no legacy. All play good passing football for 6 years and the passing was still poor yesterday under hard press. Six year on and low debt levels. The club is in safe hands. It needs the football people to do their jobs better.

Maybe the debt levels are low because we haven’t bought the best tools for the job??? Just a thought.

Coleman UPDATE [off site] on 19:00 - Aug 10 by QJumpingJack | Going back to ACs statement - is it odd that he has not outlined any targets/goals this season. play-offs? promotion contenders? finish better than last season? "I am optimistic where Luke and his staff can take the team". I am not sure what this really means. |
It’s the Coleman ‘generic’ statement. Some buy it, many do not. He is superb at talking and saying nothing.

Cooper’s legacy was two play offs and the club refusing to support him so he left.

Coleman UPDATE [off site] on 19:26 - Aug 11 with 588 views | Swans9 | I agree Luther 27 never felt this bad about a new season. I was at Fulham we lost 7 nil fa cup and they league below us. Thing I find hard if I say wow squad great I be attacked saying that. I happy just to stay up due money we pay for our squad. But the league is spilt in three the teams with money the owners with money ie stoke and us Plymouth and Derby lack quality in their squad

Let’s give him a chance - we still have a few weeks left before the window closes. If they can unearth some more gems like Eom we will be fine. They are attempt to fix a very flawed transfer strategy which for years brought us the likes of Paterson and Walsh. At least we’re aiming for the right age group in a more value for money market.

He’ll yes…I remember how I felt after that defeat. Game yesterday has had enough said about it….and I’m living by the second half performance which was better than the first but still crap. But like I said on another thread let’s wait and see for the end of the window…see what we’ve got in the squad and then judge Williams on that. Way I see it is what are the owners going to give him?

Depends what "supporting him" means. If it means signing only the exact players that Cooper wanted then it's true. He wasn't supported. You could argue that Cooper shouldn't have been such a baby and done what plenty of other managers have done in the past and made the best out of what the club was able to provide. Then again, if he was the kind of manager capable of that then maybe Forest wouldn't have signed 20 odd players to try and please him and breached FFP rules in the process.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

and don't forget what Cooper achieved in his first 8 months at Forest. Quite an incredible achievement. I can remember being at the City Ground in May 2022. Forest beat us 5-1 - Cooper was in charge at Forest and we were humiliated. It could have been 10. He is a good coach. He has also won the World Cup....

Cooper like Potter at Chelsea had players thrust onto him by on owner that thought he knew better, its difficult to build an ethos into a team with so many different options and personnel to keep happy, those owners totally unbalanced the whole team, both were doomed to fail under those circumstances.
