Cat 1 doesn't protect you from having your bright young stars taken, it just increases the compensation.

The last figures I've seen are:

For each year in an academy between the ages of 9 and 11: £3k

For each year in a Cat 3 academy between the ages of 12 and 16: £12.5k
For each year in a Cat 2 academy between the ages of 12 and 16: £25k
For each year in a Cat 1 academy between the ages of 12 and 16: £40k

There are additional payments based on appearances up to £1.3m (if a player makes 100 Premier League appearances)

For a player poached between the ages of 12 and 16, 20% of the next transfer fee if the player is sold before they are 24.

Cat 1 does not enable unfashionable clubs with a training facility on the flight path into Heathrow to keep hold of their starlets.

Agree that Cat 1 won’t guarantee keeping the best young talents, but it may help the overall proposition, and if only half are encouraged to stay, it would be of benefit.

Plus the additional upside not often discussed is the new found ability to go and poach other academy talents for a pittance. So what we lose in some places we could potentially gain in others.

I am a complete financial numpty but weren’t we due 200k or so for Chair and Diengs participation in the World Cup? What financial year would that come into?

That's in these figures somewhere.

Completely agree, 1JD.

Sorry if this made clear earlier.

By Start of next month.

We have accounts for 22/23 filed and future projection for current term 23/24 , so if this indicates breach, we could face points deductions dependent on level of breach and this WONT happen this season but APPLIED next season.

Correct ???

Good point however accounts are published 1 year in arrears. 2023/24 accounts will be reported in 2025.

SimonD, can you clarify this please:

On page 1 you stated "The penalty for breaching of the 3 season P&S reporting rules is a deduction of points to commence in the season following the breach."

Do you mean the season following the point at which the breach is determined or the season after the period being reported on?

e.g..
If in Spring 2025 QPR are found to have breached FFP for the period 2022-24, is any points deduction applied for the 2025/26 season or immediately to the 2024/25 season in progress?

I believe it should be the latter (2024/25 season) but that requires the EFL to be swift in dishing it out.

There is extra cost in Cat 1 if I remember right, including providing dormitory accommodation.

The extra cost is 500k from cat 1 to cat 2 and consists of hiring additional mandatory personnel. E.g. performance analyst for every age group. Dorms are not part of the equation as far as I have been told but additional infrastructure is, most notably an indoor dome that we currently don’t have, but which the club have planned as a phase 2 works at the training to eventually meet Cat 1 requirements.

Doesn't the dome over the road at Cranford count for us? That's the one they use, it's literally 30 seconds door to door.

Not sure to be honest. Know they have been renting it for some time but whether rental passes the requirements rule I don’t know. Certainly plans to build our own so on that basis I’m assuming it’s still needed for Cat 1 formalities but could be wrong.

So the problem is not the set of accounts just published for 22/23 but trying to stay within the £39 million with this years set of accounts and making serious savings on the Expenditure budget.

Just a thought and question, so Rubén and Amit have sponsored the training ground, stadium and South Africa Road stand on 3 year deals, bearing in mind they have an even better understanding of the Finances via the clubs Finance Director is it possible and financially legal that they could have paid all three years payments in one go to balance against this years set of accounts.

Sadly not.

That would be treated as Deferred Income and allocate to the appropriate season's accounts. It would help cash flow if there was an issue with that though.

I'm just quoting the regulations.

My interpretation would be that if we breached this season, it couldn't be definitely determined until our financial year was over (May 31st) regardless of any FFI, so any points deduction would be next season. Make sense?

Consistently crashing in the same car might hint at underlying issues like faulty vehicle components or perhaps a recurring pattern in driving behavior. It's crucial to have the car thoroughly inspected and to reassess driving habits to address the problem effectively.
