Swansea City v Leeds United : Match day thread on 23:03 - Feb 13 with 2154 views | RichardO | Get through this season still in the Championship if we can and regroup that is what this season is all about now. It is obvious that our middle of the midfield cannot match quicker players we have seen this pairing fail they get played through or they drop off either way allowing the opposition time to thread balls through to well time runs. Thought our press was good against Hull if we couldn't get the press right the forwards held of the press until our shape was right to initiate the press but Leeds quicker movement didn't allow us to get the marking in the midfield right as as the game wore on the marking got worse and worse again after the substitutions. One thing Williams has got to realise is that Grimes and Fulton cannot get back quick enough and the counter is easy pickings, Humphreys drove up into the midfield but not covered we have seen this type of scenario time and time again and it was always something that Williams was going to have to learn to our cost.

Don't agree He passes as he does because he has not the ability to pass accurately to team mates His last thought was to pass back to keeper on 94 th non That said, we are bad throughout

Swansea City v Leeds United : Match day thread on 22:44 - Feb 13 by Boundy | Did you expect anything other than a defeat , I'd be more than delighted should we have got something tonight , it was the manner of the defeat which shocked most around me , that most didn't return to their seats for the second half . |
True enough I expected it but tried to kid myself It's the hope

The lack of movement ahead of the CHs today was clear. Sometimes it felt only Tymon was making hisself available - we were so predictable and so easy to pick off
| This is Patches O'Houlihan saying "Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you." |

However can someone confirm the formation please, because it was a little confusing at the ground. Was it 4,2,3,1 ? Or something else entirely. Not sure if Leeds were exceptional or we were abject or both. We need to sort the middle of midfield out as it clearly isn't working, also Cullen should never be a lone striker, poor sod didn't have a chance. Ampadu and Rodon were class and controlled the game in front of them, the way the Leeds attacking players found space was a tad worrying. The spine of our team looks shot of confidence at the moment, Cabango, Wood, Grimes, Fulton and whoever we play up top. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

For Piroe's goal, Cabango is easily beaten and Wood is sauntering back without much effort. Its one thing to be outclassed, but to put in no effort as well is unforgivable.

At times it seemed like 2,4,3,1 all they had to do was hit the ball into the space where the full back should be and open us up at will. Williams must learn quickly that you can not deploy National League tactics in the Championship, we don't have better quality players than most of the other teams and the managers are outhinking him. He has to be flexible and play the opposition in many matches and not just the way he wants.
Swansea City v Leeds United : Match day thread on 07:55 - Feb 14 with 1495 views | PawelAbbott | April is going to be a decisive month for the club. There are 6 winnable games in a row. If we come out of there with 4 wins or more then we will be fine. If we can get the squad back to full strength then we should be fine. If we go through April with a mass of injuries and playing with a slow defence high up the pitch, then we could be in real trouble [Post edited 14 Feb 9:14]

In-between I would say. We are ravaged with injuries and playing all the top teams back to back. March and April would be a better time to judge, hopefully the injuries will ease and there are more favourable fixtures.

At least you didn’t have Kyle Naughton to blame for last nights poor performance, you still seem to blame the defeat fully at the door of Matt Grimes though.

As I said he’s a mystery.

Morning Rog Keep it non personal eh I don't , however he is the leader on the pitch Looking at him and his mates, just how can he possibly be lauded as a captain We were beaten before the ball was kicked The crowd flat as a pancake as they knew what was coming Does he have no voice? Does he not think Heyes is a wasted shirt I felt for young Ronald, one with fire in the belly basically left with on his own We don't need to be this bad We have injuries for sure and that's a worry on itself but we don't deserve this crap Blame lies deeper than Grimes , for sure Enjoy the day

Matt Grimes would be named as captain by the manager who selects the team, as have the previous 4 or 5 managers. As far as him being rated as one of the best midfielders in the championship is concerned, That was not quoted by anyone on here but by an experienced opposition manager earlier in the season.

Over the last three seasons we have become a middle to bottom half Championship club rather than a middle to play off club. All due to owners who sell of the family silver every season. No matter who the manager is at the start of every season he’s left with a diminished squad. So…do we accept this under the argument it keeps the club solvent or do we….what….as a fan what can we realistically do to change this?

That's the problem. We can't build a good team as we sell off anyone of value every summer. It would have go be a fantastic transfer window to bring in a good enough team for that season, as they'll be sold off by the next summer if any good
Swansea City v Leeds United : Match day thread on 15:03 - Feb 14 with 837 views | jack247 | To put it into perspective, we were 15th or 16th going into last nights match. If a manager took over Palace or Forest, got spanked by City, Liverpool and Arsenal in his first five games, but took four points on the road from the other two, nobody would bat an eyelid. They looked scared to commit to Williams’ press last night, as they knew Leeds had quality and pace. Ended up doing a half-hearted version of it which was less effective than I imagine committing to it fully or sitting deeper would have been. Horrible result. Completely outclassed, but it won’t happen often.

We’ve already played the top 3 home and away this year and after Saturday make that the top 4. Things in principle get easier from then but can’t help but feel a little nervous on some recent showings.

Which ones though? Birmingham we rode our luck but were winning in injury time. Hull was a good team performance where I didn’t think anyone had a bad game. The other three were against much better sides, who we won’t play the like of again this season. I’m ignoring Bournemouth and Morecombe as they were both complete mismatches.
