Under estimated QPR Players 07:16 - Nov 9 with 12936 views | numptydumpty | One that springs to mind for me Big Matt Smith Scored pretty regularly when coming on as sub with his head. In fact wouldn't he have been the man upon top for an Ainsworth team. [Post edited 9 Nov 2023 7:16]

Under estimated QPR Players on 10:31 - Nov 9 by Antti_Heinola | Weellll... there was a lot of complaints about him, and JFH was ridiculed on a podcast for saying he was our best player and so he builds the side around him. In that, JFH was correct., but Chery was continually blamed by fans for our strikers not finishing the chances he created, and in turn ridiculed for going to China, and seen as not really that great. Then he played Champions League football to join the growing band of players many of our fans believe weren't 'good enough' but went on to do well elsewhere or even just have solid careers in the championship. |
Hmmm OK I don't really recall that - certainly Polter and Sylla got more negativity for their perceived limitations.

Under estimated QPR Players on 10:37 - Nov 9 by Loyalitat | Absolutely this. Scorned, derided, mocked. Yet his goals to games ratio was in the region of 3.5. Very good, when you consider about 54% of his appearances were from the bench. Started 28 games, substitute appearances: 33 games. Goals scored 17. For reference, our Scotstralian has started over 85% of the time. But he's doing his best. [Post edited 9 Nov 2023 10:51]

God Sylla as I called him. I am totally with you on this. Anyone that can use fear to get a GK to drop the ball at his feet for tap in is a legend in my eyes.

Yeah I liked him too - one of those players where he didn't seem to know what he was going to do, so the opposition weren't going to know either!

You'd have Polter and Sylla over what we've got in attack now.
Under estimated QPR Players on 11:29 - Nov 9 with 2013 views | Pindarus | Frank Clarke. Proper centre forward. Tough and reliable. Also agree re Martin Busby. Pure class who would have been a real star but for his horrendous broken leg. The only time I have actually heard the crack of bones breaking at a game. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Under estimated QPR Players on 12:34 - Nov 9 with 1913 views | PBLOCK | Steve Palmer Was the first ‘Captain’ we had since Macca Wasn’t flashy never injured and was hugely important under Holloway for turning it round and getting back to the Championship Got dogs abuse when playing in Midfield but was versatile dependable and came over as a decent bloke I liked him

Frank was close to being the perfect partner for Rodney. I still feel that it was due to Clarke being injured that Chelsea won so comfortably in the FA Cup 6th round. Thank you Duncan Forbes!

Under estimated QPR Players on 08:31 - Nov 9 by dmm | Andy Impey, now an assistant Development Squad coach. He was understandably often in the shadow of Trevor Sinclair, who played on the opposite side, but was a great winger for us. I loved seeing him and Sinclair destroy opposition full backs then switch wings and both do the same on the other side. |
Loved Impey, was quick, aggressive and didn’t take any shiit. Seem to remember himself enjoying the occasional confrontation with the oppo, mists of time but I think there was a tasty one against Leeds?
Under estimated QPR Players on 14:06 - Nov 9 with 1693 views | smudgehoop | Bradley Allen springs to mind for me. A great little striker who was always in the shadow of Ferdinand. Also agree with an earlier comment on Marcus Bignott. Did a lot of donkey work for team with no fuss and could be quite skillful at times.

Sent off at Coventry the day that doomed us. Not a great idea. Also sent off in the Cup against Barnsley, but helped make a great day even better.

Under estimated QPR Players on 08:17 - Nov 9 by GaryBannister86 | Couldn't disagree more, Mr Honneywood. Talentless footballer lucky to be surrounded by 10 quality players. When he played, everyone sighed before kick off, and our chances of winning went down by around 99.9%. Useless. [Post edited 9 Nov 2023 8:18]

In my view, a common misconception that arose long after the time. Maybe to try and big up his (dubious) managerial skills and profile. I certainly don't remember many R's fans at the time thinking that Holloway was of any use. When Barker - good player, but hardly a world beater - was alongside Super Ray instead of Holloway we were a million times better. And so was Wilkins. "Was Wilkins' legs" - I'm sorry, I must have missed it at the time. But - I am probably wrong. Usually am.

Under estimated QPR Players on 14:38 - Nov 9 with 1620 views | E17hoop | Steve Palmer. Smart - in every sense - and a good solid pro. Aziz Ben Askar. When we had 4/5 of fúck all he came in and just looked awesome. A completely left field pick but improved us massively at the back.

Got to totally disagree!!! I’ll agree I gave him stick for not having technical ability but, when not playing you totally appreciated what he brought to the party. Let’s be fair an all - he had ability as well - to get into the team you had to. Never forget his goal up Newcastle which nearly got me killed

Under estimated QPR Players on 15:38 - Nov 9 with 1506 views | dsw2509 | Clive Wilson and David Bardsley should have been the England full backs. I thought they were both outstanding. Slightly more recently, I also agree with the shout outs for Steve Palmer. Not as a midfielder though.

Nope, Holloway was vastly underrated as stated, covered all the ground. Even Frank McLintock raved about him on MOTD once. However I do agree that Barker was better and might have got an England call up if he hadn’t picked up that bad injury. Also agree on Palmer, couldn’t get all the negativity about him, Ben Askar a classy player who I believe wanted to go back to France also Micky Leach.
