Diabolical use of a third colour. Doesn’t even remotely match. Barrow:
Not bad, but a classic example of how a boring sponsor logo can ruin a kit. [Post edited 17 May 2022 23:17]

New kits around the league 22/23 on 00:08 - May 18 with 7791 views | Brierls | Always the best thread of the year. I actually don’t mind that City shirt, at least it’s using their traditional colours. The Barrow is indeed stunning. Stunningly bad.

Agreed. I thought I must have been on a bender looking at Barrow.

Quite like that. Definitely different. Sponsor spoils it a bit though.

It's a nod to Coventry's kit of the late-1970s/early-1980s. http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Coventry_City/Coventry_City.htm

Kit annoyance transcends time. Used to get annoyed in the late 1920s at the lack of quality conversation in the factories and pubs of the town because the club hadn’t said a word about any changes to the shirts.

There was a gap in the market back then for a local kit manufacturer, straight off the cotton looms Shame your dad, 235Dale, couldn't help out

Really like the vintage look of the Arsenal kit. I'm a big fan of an old school kit (like our green and black) or a weird modern style (that first pink one with the darker pink pattern). Would love kits that are better quality but I'd like us to stick with something unusual. Would gladly have pink as our standard away colour.

This is based on nothing but a handful of memories but I seem to remember us faring quite well in pink, particularly in the season that was cut short by COVID. Won at Bolton, Tranmere and Southend in that more fluorescent pink kit.

Your Pink is my Raspberry, but it was an excellent strip. I would like to perhaps combine a brighter blue with the raspberry, somewhat akin to the Crystal Palace kit. As our home kit. Just blue is just boring.

But our kit isn't "just blue" and it's not boring. It's our identity. Maybe we should go for sky blue pink with yellow dots on to make some folk happy?

Interesting point about identity, not least since it's the second time that term has been raised in debate on here over the past few days I agree about kit identity - certainly in terms of standard home kit. Messing with it (apart from minor variations at the edges) is neither necessary or wise I'm not sure about the other "identity" either! If we took an identity in terms of playing style onto the pitch and it wasn't working, people would be crying out to change it or - to use the usual parlance - have a Plan B FFS. (BBM's team had an "identity") Our fans know what the true, underlying identity of the club is. That's the only one we need to have, but keeping the basic colour scheme is pretty important too, as the owner of Cardiff found out a few years back when he tried to change their kit to red [Post edited 26 May 2022 14:47]

Plan B is always nice - but you have to have a Plan A first!

For the last time: we have an identity which is exclusive to us in the whole of the country over the last decade plus. It’s blue/black/white. There are no arguments against this that make any sense at all.

New kits around the league 22/23 on 21:05 - May 26 by Brierls | I think Nike laid off their design department during the Covid lockdowns. I’ve now seen the new Liverpool and England kits, and both are plain t-shirts with a badge on. *Edit* I take back what I said about Hummel, that new Coventry shirt is nasty. Coventry shirt would be fine without the toothpaste running down each side. Not all retro is good.

There was a similar Dale shirt made once, as part of vote on a new home kit. A lineup of dale fans did a lovely cat walk and then there was a vote. I've got a photo somewhere, you might even be in it, Brierls.

I will be in said photo. It was the year of the ‘Dale till I Pie’ shirt with the mahoosive neck, manufactured by Uhlsport. I can’t remember which one I ‘modelled’.

Every time I look at that Coventry kit it gives me nightmares remembering the matching design away kit from the 70's.

I actually quite like it , at least it's summat a bit different. Vaguely remember when they were sponsored by Talbot in the days before sponsors were allowed on shirts, they managed to incorporate a 'T' into their kit design. Always quite innovative under Jimmy Hill.
