Dog thefts 20:04 - Feb 18 with 8447 viewsenfieldargh

Probably prevalent in most area but my part of North LOndon aggravated dog theft on the rise. Heard of soft targets walking their dogs having them aggressively stolen

Today in Winchmore Hill a dog walkers van was hijacked with 3 dogs inside; van found later on with only one badly wounded dog inside, the other two vanished.

Any bastard that steals a pet/animal needs a pick axe handle full blast right in their face followed by another pick axe handle full blast right on top of their bastard head.

Absolute filthy bastards.

It's rife over here as well. Norn Iron and English gangs apparently, dogs being sold in England via the North.

This angers me beyond my core.

I would gladly do a stretch for the gratuitous torture of anyone caught stealing anyone’s dog.
And I mean anyone. I can feel the pain of any victims of this heinous act.

This is NOT property theft. This is ripping people’s hearts out and putting them on a Bunsen burner.
The punishment needs to fit the crime.

End of.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Chip scanners are £30 or less. They use them to find the chip and then cut it out.

Stanley and myself had a big dance last night when Field scored. He was so excited, hadn't a clue what was going on. Then Austin scored, and we had to dance again.

If anyone stole Stanley I'd hope he'd refuse to dance for them.

A lot seem to be stolen for dog fighting.Whether they’re used as training for their own dogs to attack or not,I don’t know, but it must be awful for the original owners to not know what has happened to their pets.
That’s a big reason why I won’t get another dog until I retire properly and can keep a close watch on it.But it will be a rescue dog rather than some fancy breed that only seems to be a status symbol anyway.
Amazing to think that people used to get a dog to protect them and their property, but now they’re more likely to get targeted because they have a dog.

Oh dear! Must admit my current best friend is not chipped, though, unlike my previous companions, his big head and huge teeth lend to a certain air of possible problems for the potential dog pilferer.

It really does make you wonder if it’s worth buying anything decent now.Caravans, boats, bikes and cars are all stolen by heartless bastards who know they can do it,and will probably get away with it,even in the unlikely event that they get caught.
Was it always this bad?Or have things really got worse?

The judicial system needs to start realizing that so called petty crime is not so petty to those who have to suffer it.

I know it’s not necessarily the thread, but I suspect all above and below this post, are folks for whom a pet has played a happy and important part of their lives.

I’ve always been a cat man myself, and Mrs PH and I took in a rescue cat during our last posting. She joined me after 18 months here in the desert, but COVID restrictions meant we left our little fella with a friend until things improved and we could fly him out. Then one morning we woke to find the generals had orchestrated a coup in Myanmar!

Now the friend who is looking after him might end up being evacuated and she and us are trying to make alternate arrangements in fear that if we cannot, then he might be left to fend for himself. We’re worried enough for friends and former colleagues back there, but the thought of letting him go like that is saddening.

The cat has been great company for us, now he’s providing some relief for someone with fear for her safety. And that’s the thing: pets often provide more than companionship, but become part of the family and make our lives that bit better.

To have that ripped away by thieves is bad enough, but the true scumbags are the ones who would buy dogs off a thief for their benefit knowing that they’ve stolen it off someone else who cates more for the animal and probably damaged the dog’s mind as well.

How one could do that, is beyond me!

I’d agree with you if everyone who bought a stolen dog knew it was stolen, but some people would easily fall for the lies of a dog thief about the owner dying,or in hospital or gone into care.
But there are also buyers who don’t give a sh@t where the dog has come from too.

And I would also agree with you, but as the Kennel Club etc. would advise, only buy from reputable breeders.

The upshot of this when normalcy returns, will be lots of new owners suddenly wanting rid and I’m sure Battersea Cats and Dogs home and other shelters are bracing themselves.

I’m a supporter of BC&D and if folks want to adopt a pet, then to such shelters you should go.

absolute scum that do this; whether it be to sell on or even worse, as bait for fighting dogs.

this crime needs upgrading to something more serious; for some it would be the same as a child being stolen (the dog people will understand, even if that sounds a tad over dramatic)

if anyone tried to take my lad they'd have to get past me at my worst to do so.

Out of interest looked up the price of a cocker spaniel our current mutt of 8 years, over £2k !

Her value to us is not monertary but the affection and devotion she gives us , my kids now living away from home always enquire about the bloody dog not their old man.

So cruel these horrible bastards involved in the theft, tougher laws against buyers and sellers of these dogs may bring the thefts down some, but when there is so much money involved there like drug dealers, money will always talk.

Mrs tint and myself are both coming up to the long waited retirement. Though we have had mainly cats as we felt it was better while we both worked we are thinking about adopting a dog for the first time
I wasn't to fussed really but our youngest moved into her first home recently and got herself an older dog, never realised how vetted you are to get an abandoned dog.... wow
Well this chap is your original Hienz 57.... I think his mum must have been a bit of a gal as I'm sure he as about every breed known to man in him... even at 8 or 9, not sure exactly he is as daft as a box of spanners and I can wat h him for hours at the beach with our youngest at a social distance
So from being a well that is life to now if somebody tried to grab the idjit it would be castration with a blunt spoon

I mean most crimes there's a victim, but you have to be a pretty horrific type of cúnt to snatch away someones dog. Anybody that's had or been around dogs know that they very quickly become members of the family, especially to children or people that rely on them for mental health.

It's not far from snatching children away, I'd imagine the effects are very similar for certain people, and to think people would do that for the sake of a few hundred or thousand quid...

I don't know what the sentences are and how serious this is actually taken by authorities, but I hope repercussions are severe for anyone involved and people buying are more vigilant with who they give money to

The bastards that buy stolen dogs are just as evil as the bastards that steal them.
None of this "I didn't know it was stolen nonsense"

I don't know what the lowest form of criminal life is but dog stealers and those that purchase stolen dogs come into that category in my book.

I understand that in France they put the chip under the chin/throat, so pointless them trying to remove the chip although I guess there re machines that can wipe clean the chip.

Go onto gumtree and some other sites and I’ll lay odd half the dogs on there are stolen , we are actually changing where we walk our two recently as it’s so bad with dogs being stolen around Middx , after losing both of our rescues last year if anyone tried it with these two they would be hanging from one of the local trees within five mins of me catching them and it wouldn’t be by there neck either . Rescues are filling up already with dogs who aren’t soft and cuddly anymore and actually need walking feeding a bit more etc
