This is hilarious, so Mandaric demolished an outbuilding, and then had 'loose' plans for a club shop that would be built 15 years later on land that the club wouldn't yet own for over a decade, a club shop built by the 6th different owner after Mandaric.

I totally agree, it's just hilarious stuff, a 15 yr build programme for the following:
1. Sit in a digger for photo shoot demolishing building to give impression of stadium development, but in the knowledge it's just going to be a car park.
2. Do nothing else of note for years whilst club is in the poo again.
3. Oh, and again, do nothing else of note for years whilst club is in the poo once more.
4. Eventually build a car park, where said buildings were demolished.
5. Refurbish a crappy old unit alongside said car park and have grand opening of New club shop and ticket office.
6. Remove and reposition pitch floodlight to light up the car park.
7. TBC (rumour has it build a buffoon petty zoo on said car park)

Why did your City Council give him the freedom of the city ? Was he seen as some sort of saviour or hero for getting you into the Prem, despite his shortcomings on stadium delivery and then selling up ? |  |

It was totally a publicity stunt. He would have received the FoC award just after the promotion to the PL, and he was probably milking it. He was richer than the present owner, and probably just didn't fancy spending shedloads on the stadium so kept the fans going. Most fans saw right through it. | |
