Thing is, Mandaric, as the photos clearly show, started the building process by ceremonially demolishing that old building. I remember the news item. It was part of his grand plan re-build Fratton Park by turning the pitch round, extending the Fratton End and building new North and East stands. If you want to be totally pedantic (which wouldn't be at all like you would it?) I suppose he's 'demolishing' rather than 'building' but I've yet to see any building development that doesn't start with some sort of site clearance first, so I would say that Mandaric definitely started the building work. I think the scheme may have floundered over some electricity sub-station or other which was in the way, or possibly because the idea of the Fratton End becoming the Fratton 'Side' was just too complicated for the locals to understand. |  | | |
