Interested to read he now lives in Germany. Our record most expensive signing for many a year.

I don't think he was a record signing, that would have been Colin Irwin at £340,000

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
Poll: Happy to see Martin go

Forgot about that. Good God, that was a huge sum in the early 80s. Equivalent to about £20m in today's market surely

We never paid Liverpool the full amount, in fairness to them they wrote it off when we went bust

No, he had a serious knee injury at Villa Park in 1982/83 which kept him out for over 12 months. When he eventually made it back, he only played about 3 more games before he had to retire.

Record signing until we signed Ash.

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

Used to be my next door neighbour when I was a kid. V friendly guy. He used to play head tennis with me over the garden fence. He showed me his golden boot (no euphemism) and I was completely star-struck. Can’t remember how he earned that. V friendly neighbours though.
