This, "put all the players in a bag and play the first eleven names that fall out when shook" really has to stop.
There is no reason behind his decisions whatsoever, and players get dropped when they put out good performances.
The team that finished the game tonight needs to start on Saturday with Rodon back in. We can easily compete around the playoffs if we play our strongest team, and not fart about with arrogant/totally clueless selections like playing Carroll and Naughton in midfield. Hopefully that'll see Carroll back in the u23s for a spell. Absolutely worthless.
Mulder should also be playing, but Nordfeldt's outstanding save has probably given Potter another excuse to play him on Saturday after putting us under pressure countless times yet again with shocking distribution. |  | | |  |

I think the "getting rid of Potter" rants are nothing more than frustration having seen how he has already brought a young team so far and slowly getting them to Gel as a unit without having the backing of the Board at all. The fans know that given a couple of shrewd additions to this squad we would already be main challengers to go back up, and still may be. Personally I think Potter is a young energetic Manager whop should we get rid of will be snapped up by someone as I am sure he will become a really great manager in the next few years. |  | | |

Yes, let it be known that my OP is by no way stating anything near that. As I think he is a very good coach as its showing with the development of the youngsters.
My other original points still stand. I don't believe his team selections are 'catered' to our opposition in any way. They seem curiously random, and as has been pointed out in this, and other threads; we normally fall into the setup which we should have started with at the beginning of the match.
Our best performances have come when we have the team out that is pretty close to what most of us would select on this forum, let alone the manager.
He has to start moulding a core, 4/5 changes every game in my opinion will not get us anywhere. | | | |

Jury still out for me & I'll give it another couple of months at least, key points so far imo :-
1. Considering how poorly he was supported financially in the summer sitting 10th with an uplift in football quality is a decent achievement.
2. Majority of youngsters asked to step up have been excellent - Roberts & Rodon exceptional.
3. Signings made more mixed but Celina looks a good call & others are either young or cheapish.
4. I would still settle for 10th come May - we are not set-up financially or as a club to go back up yet & not sure under current ownership we will ever be.
5. In my eyes Mulder is the better keeper but cannot fault Nordfelt on last two matches & he started the season with the gloves so I'm ok with it.
My only early concerns are the very bland pre/post match interviews, hope he's more passionate than that with the players - pleased to hear he got angry at HT vs Blackburn - & the keenness to tweak the side continually both in players & formation. Poor call to go 3 CBs at Villa & took way too long to rectify it - cost us the game for me.
For me right now & in school report terms it would be a C+, satisfactory & showing potential but needs to keep improving. |  | | |

He's a young coach trying to change the complete mentality and philosophy of the club, with no financial support.
He's trying to keep a small squad competitive and involved.
He's making mistakes-granted, but this is night and day quality wise in the whole to last year's shite shower. He's a clever bloke. He will learn but will keep on protecting the squad. If that pi55es people off they better get used to it.
Christ he's even getting pelters after a 3-1 win.

Very good article. Larsson says that Potter quite often starts with a formation and changes it at half time. And even sometimes plays 3 systems in a game, but all his players know what they are doing.
This is what he's going to bring to us. As of yet, the players are just learning these systems and of course they are not ready to implement them all yet, but they are learning. Got to let them learn and stop moaning people. |  |
