I’m not saying we were the better side, Scunthorpe were well worth their lead in the first half. But we had our chances and didn’t play anywhere nearly as badly as I think comments on here suggest. It was only the back 4 who were bad, other than that we were pretty good.
Regarding Hart, I was impressed how often he found a man in the opposition box in that second half. With Done he can attack well enough but his crossing is so poor that it invariably leads to nothing, today Hart’s attacks more often than not found Pink shirts and lead to a Dale chance.
Caught half of KH on BBC Mcr interview, was asked if set pieces would be on the agenda in training on Monday, he basically said what’s the point, we could do it every day, players need to man up & take responsibility and think about what they are doing...
You know, I actually agree with him, practise shooting & running forwards with the ball not passing it sideways 🤨

Positives - still unbeaten away and a point is a point. Great for Ollie and Gillam to get on the score sheet.
Negatives - we either haven't found the players or the system to allow us to successfully play KH football for 90 mins. We can't defend for toffee
Questions - will we go back to route one if it works and allows us to start amassing points? Was it individual errors or a collective panic which led to the 3 we conceded?
"lack of responsibility from individuals"..........K Hill 17.35 8th Dept 2018.
Will those individuals keep their places?

Our approach play in the first half was ponderous and sloppy. It was much more effective once we went direct. It’s good we have that option if required.

True
It's good to know the manager doesn't like sloppy seconds
Watched on iFollow and i was thoroughly impressed with the following players, especially the last half hour (i missed the first half hour, didn't realise it was being shown until i read the other thread so can't comment on the first two Scunny goals):
Rathbone - What a player, just loves playing football and always drives at goal. Could have had a hat trick barring a good save. Always found space.
Calvin - Won 99% of his headers, nearly always found a Dale player with his headers or passes, his awareness was spot on, played really well.
Gillam - Goal took a deflection but he had a shot amd that's what counts! Made plenty of runs and was found unmarked plenty of time, showed lots of promise.
Shart - I think after a few more games he will become a staple in this team at left back/LWB, he always overlapped and found a man with his crosses, nice to see every set piece beat the first man!
The defence weren't tested for the final 30 minutes really, but they looked weak defending crosses. Once they have the ball, McNulty and McGahey could pass it around for days and not get tackled, i just wish they'd start marking from set pieces.
Wish I'd chosen a different username...

I do hope that Shart is a freudian slip...

Shart is apt. A little push and a huge explosion but then somebody needs to clean up behind.

I thought he did OK considering it was his first start and what little first team football he's been exposed too. Had a number of dangerous forays into their box and his set pieces were decent. At least give him time, someone on here was ready to write Norman off the other week after his debut appearance replacing Lillis for half an hour.....and now he looks like a competent 'keeper. Let Hart get a decent run of games before forming an opinion.

I think it was a joke mixed with genuine compliment rich...
LWB pushes up, the cross/shot is the explosion and then one of the centre backs mops up.

I’m not writing him off at all. Im offering an opinion on how he played today and today only.
Some of his crosses were deeper than the Pacific, but he did get some good balls in. I think his defensive qualities need work, based on today only. He was keen, though, I’ll give him that. He didn’t look to hide at all.
Their second in particular is embarrassing: you simply can’t let a player travel that far in the box and get a shot away. Rathbone’s second is a cracking strike!

We don't see it, we only see what we want to see.
What the hell is he waffling on about again, supporters don't see an individual lack of responsibility?I'm pretty sure they do,they've also noticed regardless of who plays at the back we still make the same basic bog standard defensive errors from run of the mill balls into the box.
Supporters see what's in front of them, and that's sadly the exact same problems the teams had for far too long and guess who that's collectively a responsibility of, that will be the manager

Same old Keith, never his fault. Total bullshit again from him.
