Such a shame... one of the best players I've ever seen where our shirt. That season winning the League Cup will probably never be beaten.

It's a shame, hope he can find some happiness away from football.

That group of players was special.

I agree.

Unbelievable football intelligence, just really poor actual intelligence.

In his first season with us Michu was one of the very best we've had. I suppose it must have been the ankle that did for him. but there is a bit of a puzzle because when he missed games for Oviedo towards the end of last season the problem was reported to be a thigh strain. Wonder if he will still play the odd game as an amateur.

One of the most enjoyable players to watch we've had since coming up.

Real shame how his career panned out.

His legacy will be that he will forever be a big part of the Swans story.

Only here for a short time but quickly became one of my favourite ever Swans players in almost 40 years of supporting. Gutted when he went from us and gutted for him now.

..."who will guard the guards..?"

Real class act, shame it didn't work out for him in the end.
Loved watching him, wish him all the best.

Yes, with my son outside. A lovely fella, really approachable and friendly.

If my ankles were arthritic (which we knew during his time here), I wouldn't be kicking the sh*t out of the advertising boards when I scored.

He must have been told by the medics that was ok or theraputic? I know nothing about arthritic ankles but if we knew, and it was damaging, he would have surely been stopped.

I'm not sure, he was a very passionate player.

One of the purest footballers we've ever had. His second goal against QPR in his league debut was technical perfection.

One of the very best i've ever seen in a Swans shirt, did it at the highest level in the premier league and La Liga .
Superb for us, shame he burned so bright for only a short time at the swans.
I wish him well.

Sad day for him and football, I can only endorse what has already been said about him on this thread, had pure enjoyment in watching him, real pity it ended the way it did, if Carlsberg made Footballers, Hey

Such a shame an absolute fabulous footballer him and ferrie bodde left us far too soon.could never understand why the manager laudrup allowed him to kick the advertising boards after scoring goals couldn't have been doing any good to his ankles

Even in this era of players coming and going in the premier league, Michu stands out for me

To get a Spanish cap when playing for us is an incredible achievement - he could have started for almost any team in the world that 1st season

This is Patches O'Houlihan saying "Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you."
