First Gulf War 19:18 - Jun 4 with 1701 views | Loyal | The allies had the Iraq army and their supporters on their knees. Then it stopped. Nothing. Is this the reason why we have what we have today ?

Which is the problem in any country we get involved in. The war is won (if it ever is) but it's the peace that's lost

Islamist terrorism existed in the world long before 2003.

That is a factor but it's not the whole reason, this is an ideological problem within Islam that has festered for decades. The reality is though we should support dictators in the Middle East, the place is far better being run with an iron fist. Saddam should never have been deposed.

Yes but it was ruled by a rod of iron in iraq and libya. It was surpressed. We then took over those countries, executed their leaders then walked away leaving a huge power vacuum to be filled by terrorists and fundamentalists. Its now coming back to bite us.

There was a judgement after the first Gulf War not to overthrow Saddam, with some saying it would cause instability in the region.

Again, I said it was "part of the reason".
