The fact is that the economic crash caused by the banking crisis had a profound effect on the deficit due to lower tax returns and increased interest payments.
It sure as hell wasn't Labour "overspending" that caused the massive increase in the deficit in circa 2008.
No but Labour's rampant waving of the imaginary chequebook (on balance-sheet and off balance-sheet - PFI anyone, what the Tories are currently being pilloried for?) in the preceding years certainly did not put us in any sort of position to effectively weather the storm and is one of the fundamental reasons our economy is still up sh1t creek.
But everybody fell for Brown's infamous "no more boom and bust" mantra.

Watch this. May is clearly out of her depth in the job. She cannot answer a SIMPLE question.
Mrs May in her GE statement said we will regain control of our borders.
As home secretary she was adamant to Andrew marr we had control of our borders.
Wake up people ffs, she finds it impossible to hold a coherent line. The Europeans have seen this and will make mincemeat of her in brexit negotiations. That's why she needs an election now, before it completely unravels.
Looking at recent Welsh polls for the upcoming General Election and the local Council Elections it seems that for vote share the Conservatives are up in both, Plaid are up in one and staying the same in one, Lib-Dems are down in one and staying the same in the other and Labour are down in both polls.

This just proves she's totally out of her depth. She's should be nowhere near the limelight, she's got no confidence whatsoever
The cynic in me has always thought that this was the real reason for the snap election, however tinfoil. Coupled with the election fraud issue. The warmongers really, really want Syria. No parliament, no vote. How convenient.
I have heard it said that Tories are known to be vermin they are true to themselves as they know what they are, Labour have become vermin, they are the same as the Tories, Labour are traitors to the working class and poor.

PFI started under Major in 1992. You're correct that Labour gleefully continued with it, as did the coalition in 2010. PFI is essentially legal theft, as is my opinion of government as an institution in general.

Its not what it says its what it doesn't say:- I doesn't say to cut VAT, it doesn't say to raise income tax for people earning good money, it doesn't say nationalise all industry that is vital to the national cause.

My guess is that student loans is both the next PFI and the next PPI. Governments give not a single shit about anything beyond their short term power horizon. We have the instant gratification monkeys running everything that we truly deserve.
Oh and my other guess is that in 10-15 years time or less we will be competing for immigrants with the rest of demographically crippled and talent scarce countries and begging and incentivising them to come to this backward, emptily arrogant, self indulgent, shithole of a country.

Still waiting for King Arthur and his knights of the round table to be awaken and rid the country of the scourge of the vile Anglo Saxons is it butt ?

What is "good" money?
Why should those already paying the most, pay even more? How is that "fair"?

Because we are all in it together [at least we should be], well off and comfortably off countrymen and women need to look after our weaker fellow countrymen and women that have suffered some misfortune or fallen on hard times.
If its dog eat dog then there will be lots of slums, disease, crime etc that will effect the well off that live in the same country as those poor anyway.

They already do. That is the purpose of a progressive income tax system.
