Free entry to everyone, including away supporters, as a 'gesture of goodwill'.

Interesting to see how many turn up on a Tuesday night

Not sure how they can afford to do this!

They probably can't, but desperate situations call for desperate remedies.

It is a gamble, but they feel it is probably worth the risk.

Say the normal attendance would be 3000 (average is about 3400 so remove some as it is a midweek game at the coldest time of year so I have reduced it a little).

If you say that 1200 are season ticket holders (guess) then that is 1800 paying fans say at an average of £15 a ticket, which is £27k, or £22.5k once you take out VAT which would have been paid from these totals. So it is a reasonable amount but not overly huge.

So for it to make financial profit then the club will be hoping for any of the floating supporters/people who turn up who haven't been before/for years to between them like what they see and come back more regularly. All it needs to do is average another 200 fans on the home gate for the rest of the season and it would have more than paid for itself. And this doesn't take into account increased merchandising/programs/food sales

Now if Rochdale tried this what would be the opinion on here? I can see the split already between the two camps

1) "Great idea to entice new fans to come along" camp
2) "I've paid for my season ticket so I've already paid for this game and I won't get a refund/I don't get special deals" camp

I would say awesome idea, go for it.
Especially in 2months when hopefully the weather is a bit better and we are still doing well in the table.
What better way to give new fans a taster of what the COA has to offer, especially on a family day if the plan is to make a big splash with a very affordable ST next year.

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!

It still seems over-priced to me.

Poll: What is it to be then?

Why not give the season ticket holders a free ticket to distribute themselves?

Smacks of insanity to me. Totally devalues the product though I suppose you could argue that you couldn't devalue an Oldham match much further! Didn't they do something stupid with season tickets last season. Bless.

If the last home game of the season was a dead rubber making it free to attend would be a great way to finish the season and thank the players with a big attendance at great atmosphere.

With potentially 3500 Bradford fans coming to our last home game I can't see it being free entry.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Why would a dead rubber attract a big attendance?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Exactly it wouldn't so having free entry would hopefully bring the crowds in. You could also promote or offer a small voucher discount off season tickets.

'Hopefully' being the operative word here.

Knowing the way Rochdale seem to operate.....
It would be free for all, but you have to go and get a ticket first.
But as a season ticket holder, I'd be happy to give it a try.
