Olivier Giroud 11:40 - May 6 with 4236 views | Zut_Alors | Rumours of him leaving Arsenal. Could get pelters on here for this, but I think he'd be an excellent signing if we went for him. His games not built on speed and so, at 29, he's got a good few years left. His ball control is fantastic and offers a Bony type option in the air, both when attacking and defending. Ok he's not prolific but he is a proven PL scorer.

You would think so. Agree he would be an excellent signing.
Olivier Giroud on 12:05 - May 6 with 4166 views | Brynmill_Jack | It's going to be Gomis esqe though, free transfer, big wages and signing on fee. Not sure TBH

The biggest problem with Gomis is he can't cut it at PL level. His wages just compound that. You wouldn't have that issue with Giroud. Agree it would be a bank buster though and probably not feasible anyway.

So would I. And I guess the vast majority on here. If Bony is available and within our budget he has to be the best option.

That's with the players he is playing with. Do you think he would keep that ratio up playing with us? If Arsenal had a top striker they would be winning the title this season. Unfortunately for them they have him.
Olivier Giroud on 13:11 - May 6 with 3936 views | Cooperman | More than good enough for us, but a tad on the pricey side I fear. We can do as good for less I feel.

Olivier Giroud on 13:18 - May 6 with 3908 views | jasper_T | One of his major issues is that he doesn't handle pressure particularly well, which is a problem when you play for a side like Arsenal. "Flappyhandski" responded well to the step down (and better coaching until we brought Tony in).
Olivier Giroud on 13:24 - May 6 with 3894 views | tomdickharry | Good player who's best days are possibly behind him, don't think he could play the loan striker role in our team as well as Bony who to me is a must must signing.

That didn't really work out for Wilf.

With the big money about next season we've got to spend big for a decent striker to stay in the league. Wilf won't be at City under Guardiola so let's go for it. We must compete or go down.

This season he is on one in 3 with 12 goals, along with Sanchez, so still not bad. Not quite as good as Defoe. But he also has 5 assists as well.
Olivier Giroud on 15:26 - May 6 with 3655 views | jasper_T | He'd have more space to play with us than at Arsenal, against whom teams sit deep and defend narrow. I agree that we can and should push the boat out for a new striker with the increased TV money coming in, but Giroud is on £100k a week at Arsenal and we're not in a position to match that kind of spending.

I like Giroud but no-one is going to win a Champions League with him leading the attack - which is why I don't understand Wenger's loyalty. His goal record is impressive, but when you have Ozil, Carzola and Sanchez putting it on a plate for you, then most of us would manage at least a couple!! That said, at our level, he would be a great signing - but there is no way he will come to us. He has a very high opinion of his own ability, apparently, so I can't see him dropping out of the Champions League. So, he would probably go abroad.

I agree. Facile argument as no chance at all of him coming here.

Who's to say Gomis wouldn't have scored a hat full in that Arsenal side?
