He'll probably do okay as the club he will join will be well run with a professional squad who won't stand for shirkers.

His salary is large even by Premier League standards, and over five times the Championship average. It was a stupid amount to be paying a twenty-one-year old, and there's no way he'll come close to matching it anywhere now. If he really does only care about the money Russia or Ukraine are perhaps his best bets. (Before someone says MLS bear in mind the average player salary there is less than £3,000 per week, and that, outside Canada, he has no public profile at all, as he's been in the UK since he was 13.)

I think the key here is that JFH needs to build his squad/team and he should be allowed to do that. If he decides that Hoilett has a role to play then that is fine by me. I think we can safely say that if he is offered a new contract then it will not be anywhere near the terms he is currently on (not that any of us know what they are anyway). If he has a clause in his contract that provides any form of guarantee of the same salary on a renewed contract then I suspect it is safe to say he will not get renewed whether JFH wants him or not.... |  | | |

Let's remember we were the ones who were stupid enough to offer him an enormous salary. As a 21 year old with promise, we were literally the worse club for him to join. No stability, poor decisions from the top and constant upheval. This season, i think he has been our best player following Hall. We look a far greater threat with him in the team, yet such clamour to cast him aside. He was good in the championship last time too, and i know people will say he's on 50k a week, he should be, but players performance is not directly related to their pay. Again, the club decided to offer him the contract.
He has put in some shocking performances, but i feel this was mainly due to a lack of confidence and not a lack of effort. Us as fans have been poisonous with out own players since Briatore's money rolled in.
That said, unless he takes a massive, enourmous pay cut, it's not justifiable to offer him a contract. But if he signed for what the rest of the team are on then it's a no brainer! | | | |
