Just recently discovered Jimmy Smith - been around for ages, so not sure how I missed him especially as he was covered by the Beastie Boys. Some great Hammond playing
I think this one has been sampled by Pizzicato Five

Here's the type of music that's perfect for that Sunday morning, where you got nowhere to be, the weather is shit, but you don't care cuz you're taking it easy, in a good mood cuz the day before the Rs won, while nursing a slight hangover

Good one Disco, I was gonna put some War up as well, but found these guys ( a blast from my yoof). In my opinion these guys put out better sounds than Santana.

Yep,Jimmy Smith.I bought a couple of his albums mainly movie theme music covers like James Bond.It was a time when the world was waiting for something to happen - and you kind of knew it would - then along came Eric Clapton.Up to that point it was like.....
Disco, that WAR Slipping into darkness tune is growing on me, really good stuff PunteR enjoyed the Toots and Maytals tune, some nice reggae BobbyH, yes, plenty of room for Pucho - even if it's the first time I'm listening to them, but the tune seems strangely familiar Blob, Brian Auger I will check out more, I like what I saw/heard Londonscottish - nice one! So much groove it hurts
Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

I was fortunate enough to play with this Hammond player in Los Angeles this year.
He's good, Muso - what's his name?
On the topic of Hammond organ players I was looking for a bandwhen I got married in 2005. The venue were quite restrictive about what kind of music they'd have and I nearly settled for a God-awful trad jazz outfit as they were the best of a bad bunch on the hotel's roster.
Luckily a mate of mine pulled it out the bag and booked me a three piece - drums, guitar and hammond organ. They were obviously great musicians, especially Nikolai on the keyboard, and were just doing this sort of thing for a bit of cash.
Next time I saw him was on TV the following summer - he was in James Morrison's band. Also tours with the Specials these days apparently.
Still can't believe I got him for the wedding. All I had to do was keep him and the band fuelled with Stella and fags and he blew the doors off.
Edit; found the footage. It was the cap and the brown leather jacket that gave him away
