Eric (Noel) Milleskog, the ex Djurgårdens IF player who since January has been at IK Sirius has confirmed that the interest in him, and especially Swansea is driving him forwards to get even better.
He has had a good start to this season, and it doesn’t seem that the interest in him has phased him at all. On Saturday his side play IFK Göteborg away, and possibly his inclusion or otherwise will give us some more clues. Without a doubt we can confirm today that Noel is of interest to the Swans, so recent speculation has been positive regards a transfer to Swansea City. The player himself has talked about the Swans interest this week. "Then there seems to be something in it, if it has now come out so officially. It’s a big club with a lot of history, so I have to try to use that as a driving force going forward. I take that as a motivation. I feel great in Uppsala and in Sirius, so it is important to have a good deal for all three parties. It is important for me when I take the next step, that it should benefit me and Sirius. I want to give back for the trust and the chance that I have been given here.”
That reference will be to his current club of course, whether that comes as a future friendly as happened recently, or Sirius getting a decent transfer fee at the height of their valuation remains to be seen. However, he seems ready to move on. "A lot has been written and rumoured, and I only take it as positive,” he said when asked about the interest in him. I see it as a carrot to continue and take it as a sign that it has been a good season. There is nothing that affects me negatively, that I fly away or think about something else. My thoughts are one hundred percent in Uppsala and on Sirius. I take it as motivation.”
"It’s great fun,” he said on the Swans interest.
The issue ? Has to be he is contracted to Sirius until December 2028. That means his club are in the box seats to an extent. We have to say though it seems now Noel wants to progress his leaving and his remarks about the Swans are positive. From our inquiries Sirius will want around 1.5 million euros, how that can be overcome by Swansea City will soon become evident. No transfer seems to go ahead these days without a raft of staggered payments and incentives. He is most certainly now in the crosshairs of the Swans confirming what Luke Williams stated on Saturday ‘It all depends on what happens elsewhere’
And that could affect the signing of Ruben Providence.
Eight goals and four assists from twenty league and cup games this season is a good return for a player who can play either side of midfield or attack, and who has played centre forward as well. The Allsevnskan is a tough league and Noel seems to have taken to it well despite his old club being in a far higher position, Noel continues to get very decent stats. And we know what that means to Swansea City.
