In the 60s and 70s fans of every club sang, "You'll never walk alone." It used to be one of our best songs. One of the most popular songs in Serie A nowadays is "Yellow Submarine", which is another one that used to be sung at the Dell. There is also an Italian version of OWTS being sung in Serie A this season. They don't care that we sang it first; neither do Spurs fans or those of any of the other clubs that sing it. There are a few players it would be good to loan out (no othe club would pay a transfer fee for them) so that Martin can't pick them any more. Aribo is another one. They were OK in the Championship, but they clearly aren't good enough for Premier League games. |

I agree. It's a proper home end now. Before it was effectively an away end because the big group of away fans in the middle drowned out the sound of the home fans in the corners, where the acoustics are much worse.. "Bouncing off" the away fans must be a euphemism for "being drowned out by" them. It used to be embarrassing. |

I'll change that to made to look 2nd best but it felt like a defeat. |

Obviously so. Ipswich had twice as many shots on target as we did and 5 times as many corners. For much of the game we didn't have one player up front within 10 yards of the halfway line. I was crying out for us to stick at least one player up front so we could relieve the siege our goal was under. Admittedly, Ipswich's finishing was as bad as ours. It was clearly a match between the 2 relegation favourites. [Post edited 21 Sep 22:58]

With the right manager and the right tactics, we've probably got 11 players in the squad good enough to finish 17th, and certainly of a higher quality than Ipswich have but, they've not all been played together in the right positions yet this season and even if/when they are, the substitutions will see a drop off in quality. We were outmanaged today by a team with inferior players. Apart from passing a lot to each other I don't know what our players do in training, but we seem to have no real plan for creating and scoring goals. A sublime pass from Lallana and a great finish from Dibling were more to do with their personal initiative and skill than any team planning. The only team plan seems to be to pass the ball around as far back as necessary to avoid opposition players, which, as Ipswich pushed farther and farther forward, ended up with our entire team passing the ball around just in front of our own goal. What we do is the exact opposite of what Man City do. They have Rodri a couple of yards inside the opposition half, spraying passes, all forwards, to the other players as they swarm around the opposition penalty area, taking shots every time they see the slightest opportunity. and Pompey are 25 places below us without a win in 7 games this season. Dibling and Ramsdale are, of course, always positives. [Post edited 21 Sep 20:20]

Ipswich had twice as many shots on target as we did and 5 times more corners. For much of the game we were so deep in our own half that we didn't have a single player within 10 yards of the halfway line. What saved us was that we were playing against the only team in the league almost as bad as ours, with equally poor finishing. Admittedly, in Dibling and Ramsdale we had the 2 best players on the pitch, but our team performance and tactics were woeful and the substitutions made things much worse. [Post edited 21 Sep 20:12]

Archer is a terrible fiinisher. We knew that when we signed him so why on earth is he being played as our centre forward instead of the only player we have who can finish, Dibling? We didn't play well today. We were up against the 2nd worst team in the league after us and we were penned back in and around our own penalty area desperately defending aginst a bunch of Championship players for most of the game as if we were up against Real Madrid. Only 2 incredible saves from Ramsdale saved us from defeat. [Post edited 21 Sep 19:50]

We already have a player who'd score loads of goals for us if played as a stiker -Tyler Dibling - as we'll see when he moves to a bigger club with a better manager. Instead we had the worst finisher in the squad, Cameron Archer, playing at centre forward and Dibling stuck out on the wing being told by Martin to stay back and defend. Ipswich looked as if they'd accepted defeat until Marin took off our best player. You could see they suddenly realized they had nothing more to worry about and if time hadn't run out would have gone on to win. [Post edited 22 Sep 8:02]

Dominated? We seemed to be camped in and around our own penalty area for most of the game, and only 2 brilliant saves from Ramsdale saved us from a 3-1 defeat. We were made to look 2nd best by a very mediocre bunch of players with a much better manager. Martin's substitutions were the final nail in our coffin. [Post edited 21 Sep 23:09]

Whenever there's talk of us getting a new manager, it's largely restricted to British ones. Our best managers in recent years were Pochettino and Koeman. We shouldn't restrict ourselves to the UK, but do what the top clubs do and look farther afield. [Post edited 21 Sep 12:13]

When you look at the Ipswich squad, it's incredible that they're even in the Premier League. Most of their players were picked up from League 1 and League 2 clubs, and have never played in the top tier of football anywhere before. There's hardly any player in their entire squad who'd make it into another Premier League side. Without Kalvin Phillips, who's there on loan, the total market value of their squad is less than half as much as ours. You'd have to say that their manager, Kieran McKenna, has performed miracles. With the players they have, there's no way they should beat us, BUT they do have that manager. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipswich_Town_F.C. [Post edited 21 Sep 11:56]

It's ironic that Tories are blaming Starmer for the mess they created over their 12 years in power. The Express, the Mail, the Telegraph and GB News have been at it with their anti-Starmer headlines nearly every day since the general election, and it's only 3 months since he inherited the mess their party left behind. It took 12 years to create this mess; it's going to take more than 3 months to sort it out. [Post edited 20 Sep 9:47]
