The last time we were in the PL, we had two top ten finishes and won the FA cup, with another Final appearance, all before the plug was pulled. However, that achievement alone is more than your club has achieved in its lifetime. If you are having issues with top 8 versus top 10 finishes, then lets call it as it is: Pompey have had 5 top 8 finishes in their top flight history, something you will never ever see. One of our trophies is 85 years old, one of our trophies is in this century, but your only trophy is almost 50 years ago. Were you actually old enough to understand what happened on your families’ black and white TV? Thank goodness for the last century, otherwise you wouldn’t have anything to feel content about, and you would spend even more time going on about your massive top 8 finishes. |

Wow, you finally got 4 top 10 finishes in a row, something we achieved years ago, and more than once. Its probably the biggest acheivement in your clubs lifetime. See if you can finish top 5 next time you visit the top league. We know you achieved it once, but see if you can achieve it multiple times, and then your club will have moved up to the next level on the achievement chart. |

What an hilarious thread. Why would VN want to go to a small club who don’t have any decent players whose owners don’t want to spend serious money on players who can score goals, and who will almost certainly go down, even with a bit of a late rally. He has already proved himself in a decent league and will be wanting to move to a decent sized club, perhaps in the PL when he gets the chance, ie a club the size of Everton, Villa etc or a similar sized club on the continent. Joining Soton would be a lose lose situation for him, and would just diminish his standing and opportunities for a club that can challenge for trophies or Europe. A ruud awakening indeed for some of your fans. |

There is a lot of hope on this thread. It must be tough having played 4, lost 4, and only scored one goal. Pompey may be OK, but we loads of new young players, and our 2 leading scorers out from last season, one who may struggle to play professional football again. We don't want to get relegated do we, as next season could be so much fun |

Absolutely scinillating stat. Pompey lost to Leicester by that score 96 years ago. Its just so relevant isn't it? How many goals have you lot scored this season so far? |

Nick, Have you ever thought of spending a bit of money, and going on an English writing course? You seem to really struggle with basic grammar and structure in most of your News items. If you haven’t got the time or money to spend on a course; How about getting someone else to read your items before you post them. I’m sure everyone would appreciate the effort. The example below is typical. “is as the season looms is that ideally….. you would land your key targets” How about trying to use less commas, less use of the word 'is' and using ‘you’ a bit less, and maybe trying to break up your paragraphs a bit more by using more full stops. I’m sure people on this board could chip in and help ‘you’. “The problem is as the season looms is that ideally in a transfer window you would land your key targets first and then build round them, but the reality is that you often cannot do that as your key targets are in demand and as in the case of Matt O'Riley, their current clubs want to hang on and spark a bidding war”. |
