| News Comment | Saints Need To Follow Anfield Blueprint at 15:15:03
In what should we follow their blueprint? You don't really say. Other than not firing our manager when things are difficult, which is a given anyway. I don't have a problem with your fondness of Liverpool, we all have a second team (mine's Brentford lol) but this is a nonsense article. There are many more suitable blueprints we could follow, clubs of similar stature to ours who just do things better. Leicester being the obvious one. Even Burnley. But using Liverpool as an example makes no sense at all, especially to a saints supporter. They're a superb team, no doubt, but I don't think their business model has any relevance at all to a club such as ours. Obviously the usual sheep will agree and pat you on the back but really you're just saying we should copy them because they're successful. While also stating many reasons why we can't. |
| News Comment | Francis Benali Gets MBE In New Years Honours List at 03:26:17
Maybe not the best saints player ever to pull on the shirt (although not half bad), but certainly the one that saints are most proud of to call their own. Fantastic bloke, role model, legend. Still never forget that game against Sunderland under Souness. Midweek away, biting cold, snow. A six pointer. He kept them out by himself, one of the most committed displays from anyone I've ever seen. And we nicked it 1-0 thanks to him and stayed up. Got home at 6am and started work at 630 with a smile on my face. You don't forget days like those. Got a bit carried away but yeah, a well deserved MBE ðŸ‘ðŸ‘👠|
| News Comment | Saints January Transfer Window Needs To Concentrate On One Area Only ! at 16:36:30
Just wait. January will come and go. Nobody will be signed and we'll get yet another sycophantic article saying it's not the end of the world, the club is in safe hands, January is a terrible time to do business and it's all the fans fault for being so negative. |
| News Comment | Saints Need To Turn Atmosphere Toxic At The London Stadium at 11:01:02
I definitely recall some games under Branfoot where the atmosphere was utterly hostile and full of anger. Felt like things could kick off at any moment. I get nostalgic about the old times too but we were no angels back then. I agree though, turning their joke of a stadium toxic will definitely help our cause and I think it's guaranteed to happen. It'll make it difficult for us too but it's a great chance for a good win. |
| News Comment | Now Saints Have A Better Squad Than Last Year ! at 10:10:59
I'm all in favour of cautious optimism but this article seems a tad premature. This 'under the radar' run of unbeaten games is ok but still saw us dropping more points than we should have. We're still far too flaky in defence to go into any match with genuine belief that we're going to win it. Still, we're alive and kicking. Which is more than I thought a couple of weeks ago. |
| News Comment | Day 18 ! Can Saints Survive Without New Signings ? at 11:40:27
If everything stays as it is I reckon we'll finish on about 31-32 points. Not enough. I agree a new central defender is required. But more importantly we need threat in attack. Whether that's players or tactics I'm unsure but basically we're too impotent to survive. Its goals that will keep us up, not a slightly improved 'goals against' ratio. |
| News Comment | Day 11 Still No Incoming at 22:02:32
It's not just in January that players get sold for inflated prices. Long and Redmond were both bought in the summer. |
| News Comment | Saints At Manchester City The Verdict at 09:56:20
where was I....Oh yes....well his corners were good I'll give him that but if people didn't see the game and are reading this article as reference then it's inaccurate to say he did the right things. He didn't seem to know what he l was doing and I bet he had the fewest touches of any saints player. |
| News Comment | Saints At Manchester City The Verdict at 09:50:32
Such a good performance and we really deserved a point. The manager did well although a few odd decisions late game may have cost us. That said, I'd rather lose while trying to win than be bored witless so no complaints from me. Just gutted by how it finished although the little swine did score a great goal. Redmond a contender for MOTM?? Surely a jest, he was absolute shite once again. So much so I'm bored of talking about him but |
| News Comment | Saints At Manchester City The Preview at 09:03:08
I'd probably go along with that line-up for this particular match but only because of the quality of the opposition. I hope anyone that gets left out who played so well on Sunday is assured they'll start against Bournemouth, to a man they all deserve that. Looking forward to tonight and choosing to live in hope rather than expectation. We'll need some heroics and a bit of luck without doubt but you never know. Love freezing cold midweek matches there just don't seem to be enough of them these days. Oh for some snow and an orange ball! |
| News Comment | Saints V Everton The Verdict at 12:50:16
Great result, great day. Don't want to waste words on Everton other than to say they're crap and what the hell happened to MS?? No way he's the same player that left us for greater things. So much better from us. It's controversial but I'm not really a Rom fan; he puts the yards in but makes a fair few mistakes. Hoj worked just as hard doing the donkey work but had much more about him going forward and should definitely keep his place, hopefully alongside Lamina. Much more potent going forward. Boufal, JWP and Tadic were all superb. Hopefully that'll be the end of Redmond. Surprising how his non selection was glossed over, I wonder if it had anything to do with a more united looking team? Maybe not but they did all seem a lot happier and motivated yesterday. That side deserves a consistent run although Lamina must be accommodated. Sadly it'll probably be at the expense of Davis. Maybe if we get rid of Redmond and Long in January and replace them with quality we could have a good season after all. Definitely a lot happier with life after yesterday. ðŸ‘ðŸ‘👠Oh, and despite having almost nothing to do VVD was probably our worst player and clearly doesn't give a shot. Didn't matter yesterday but he's gonna cost us dearly at some point I'm sure. |
| News Comment | Sunday Needs Unity ! at 11:30:33
It's really nothing like the Branfoot era. Those matches were utterly toxic; I loved the drama of it all at the time. I was only 20 and lived, slept and ate football. It was really MLT that saved us, Ball just told every other player to give it to him whenever possible and he was magic. The current situation in some ways is even worse because although some are angry there's also a lot of apathy. This 'you've never had it so good' attitude is all well and good but the whole thing lacks spirit. The manager and players need to know how we feel. Not that most of them will give a crap, their bread's well and truly buttered no matter what happens. And is it really a good set of players? Most of them, in my opinion, have reputations far higher than they deserve. We've been found out and unless things change we will be relegated. This Premier League is a nasty business anyway, and although I obviously don't want my team to fail, ever, I really can't say I've enjoyed a lot of the stuff that's gone on generally, even when we've been doing well on the pitch. So yeah, I wan't a raucous atmosphere against Everton of whatever kind. Not lots of disgruntled observers tutting and leaving at half time. What the bloody hell has happened to this game! |
| News Comment | Striker Sale Stories Are Mischief Making And Should Be Ignored at 11:17:27
Four good seasons from Long?? I'd say one. People admire his workrate but what's the point of running around for 90 minutes like your shorts are on fire when there's so little end product? And no it's not due to being played out of position or not having the rub of the green. He's not very good. Needs moving to a club more on his level. Although the way things are going... |
