Great article, JB! Very well-written and really good synopsis of the last month or two with Williams in charge. I don't really blame Grimes' decision to leave but do blame his timing, waiting until the last couple of days of the Jan Window. However, kudos to Swans management in signing O'Brien. His presence has been an upgrade & Swans have shown vast improvement, especially since Williams' departure. Someone posed a question, "Is Swans' improvement due to departure of Williams and apppointment of Sheehan, or is it because of O'Brien's on-field play? I would say it's probably a combination of both. |

I believe you're correct on both accounts. I don't recall Sheehan being present at either of these events. I think Watson got burned for the "coincidence" comment. |

If memory serves me correctly, was it due to Watson's appearance in sitting with N. Jones at Cardiff Stadium during a boo-bird match? I don't think Sheehan was included in that setting, was he? I may not have all the info correct here, so please correct me if I'm wrong. |

My point that I was trying to make is that if Sheehan does well over these 5 games that he should be named interim for the remainder of the season, and there would be no need to hire a permanent manager til after the season. It appears that he's getting a good response from his team, and that the players support him, which is what Williams lacked as well as other reasons mainly Williams' prevarications. Sheehan's done well to get 4 points out of 6. Is this 4 of 6 due to his skill and vision on how the team needs to play, or just a manager-change bounce? Can he keep getting points and climb the table, and if he does, is he then a suitable candidate for the permanent job after the season is over? |

Reports coming out that Hibernian manager David Gray is now being considered for manager's job. IMO, Sheehan has shown so far that he's up to the task. Why spend money on getting Hibs manager out of his contract if Sheehan shows over the 5 games he's been given to lead that he can do the job? With 3 games to go, and provided he keeps getting points, I would rather see Swans management keep their money in the bank until summer window when they can spend on new recruits. |

I agree. Coleman would be smart to build on top of their 3-0 win and get Sheehan to agree to lead the team for the rest of this season. Lots of positivity from this win! Really need some points from next three games (@ PNE, Middlesbrough, @ Watford). It'll be interesting to see how Sheehan, if still in charge, does against Leeds and Burnley after these 3 games. |

I still think (and hope) they'll give Sheehan a couple of games to see if he can just keep them up. No sense in spending money on fees just to pry a manager from a contract with another team who might need a couple of games to get acclimated to the Championship League. Sheehan's seen every team once already this season. If he wins a couple of games over a short span of games, then let him finish the season. I think the players really respect him and will be up for tomorrow's game. COYS! |
 | Forum Reply | Swansea City v Blackburn Rovers : Sheehan such a difference : News & Comment at 18:11 20 Feb 2025
In Sheehan, we trust. In Williams, we didn't trust. Huge difference! If he's able to get us the points we need in the next couple of weeks, then he'll have the job for the rest of the season, is what I predict. If he can't get his charges to do what's necessary, then they'll bring in someone to try his hand in keeping us up. |

Yes, I would be in favor of a Gary O'Neil appointment. Great article by Liam: "Go for number one, save time looking for second best". Whoever Swans sign, the manager will need to be adept/competent in training his charges in playing multiple formations. This reliance on one formation and trying to force it on the players game after game when even they can see that it's a inferior setup from the getgo has to stop. |

Rob Edwards. Has Championship & PL manager experience, Welsh heritage, & is familiar with working in a small-to-medium-sized club. |
