Ok so the club by the statement quoted back in Feb is that they want someone long term to play with the identity we have had for 20 years or so. Couple of points as I see it. Play tends to evolve. 20yrs ago we played nice football without the suicide factor at the back we had adopted We pay big bucks for someone untried to manage who wants certain players with a cost attached. They may or may not work. (Many don't). 1 of 2 things. It's works he gets poached. It doesn't we get rid at a cost. Out of pure interest I checked the average managerial tenure of a Championship manager. It's 10 months. Stick with Sheehan. (It may only be 10 months).
I wouldn't have though sourcing would not be his prime objective. Developing yes. We've seen a number of players develop/improve since his appointment and the results have gone hand in hand. He would need to say very little in his conversation with the board . Just show a couple of screenshots of before and after.
Surely the situation can only be now:- We arranged to review at the end of the season and the situation can be sorted then. I have read somewhere also that if Sheehan is offered the position he would want to see what the clubs ambition and financial backing he would have for next season before he would accept. I certainly hope that is the reality because he's gone from not too many supporters wanting him in charge.(Cheap option). To not many wanting him not to get the gig.
If they don't win today at least it will go down to the last day of the season to see if they survive. Seeing them squirming on the last day will give me some sort of pleasure even if they don't do the honourable thing and somehow stay up.
Good lord who's talking about supporting them. I'm quite happy for teams who have been in the doldrums for years do ok for themselves. Where you get supporting them from I don't get. Swansea I would hope is everyone's first club on here apart from a few infiltrators. I've followed us as my hometown club in the doldrums and know how it feels.
I would also guess that would be the 2 live games on Sky next season to replace the one's against our little sisters up the road if they do go down. Also Brum and them coming up will be 2 sellouts in the away end.
So what is the point? My view is for the majority it is jealousy that their club has financial backing. Other than that that what is the point? Anti Gog ,Anti Welsh, Anti anyone other than Swansea?
I can see us setting up similar again tonight. With the mindset again of not losing. I can accept that at this stage of the season. Another point to our tally after beating derby IMO is acceptable.
