Consortium is still possible (unlikely) but failing that it's a phoenix. Either way i'm sure you'll be sick in your pants at the prospect of another several hundred page thread.
No idea what has gone on here. His cousin, Liam was contracting where I work until recently and told me it was done and dusted that he was moving to Dale. I'll message him and try and find out what happened.
The deal at Blackpool just till the end of the season so sounds like a stop gap deal.
Merger with Dale is the latest gem. Realistically it will likely be Day passing over the mess to one of his property developer mates. Living on borrowed time. Shocked it has taken so long to be fair.
Wages too low for said club. Apparently Barton has been challenging his players to square up to him and having a pop at those who wouldn't do it. After Bury beat them in the nonsense cup, he told all the fringe players involved to find a new club.
I knew he was on his way out for a couple of weeks but only got told today that it is to your lot. Like I said, decent striker. Blackpool tried to sign him in the summer and were back in for him but he is going to Dale. I suppose getting 18 months salary paid up no quibble means he can take a hit on the salary to play elsewhere.
Chris Long was told by Barton at Fleetwood to get a new club a couple of weeks ago. They are paying up his contract in full despite only signing for them in the summer. Speaking to his cousin today (colleague) and he tells me a deal has been agreed over the weekend for him to sign for Dale in Jan. Blackpool were the other club in for him. £3k a week apparently.
Decent sriker and did well in a struggling Northampton side when on loan from Burnley last year.
100% effort but limited. His best position for you will be playing just in front of the back 4. He hasn't got the passing ability to play midfield week in week out and not got the footballing brain to be a centre back in a 4 but you would get away with it with a 5. You really wouldn't want him playing the ball out from the back. He is safety first though which as Barry said, actually works for him to a degree because he does know his limitations so doesn't try what he can't do. He will be a nuisance, win some tackles and lump it forward to safety. If you went 1 up front then he would suit and extra man in the middle. You would just be light if he was in a midfield 4 because he doesn't offer enough technical ability. Give him a free position in the middle and he would be fine.
He hasn't got a bad disciplinary record by any means but every time he goes in for a tackle you fear he is going to get sent off. He has an awkward clumsy look about him which is difficult to explain until you see it. Maybe it is just that he is a tall athletic player and if he slightly mistimes (albeit still effective) it can look worse than it is. I personally like the fact he will put his foot in 100%.
Hill won't improve him technically (concrete in his boots springs to mind) but he will give you reliable cover for several positions. Decent signing because he will save you having to sign 2 or 3 squad players as cover because of his versatility.
He does take the free kicks from deep floating them into the box, some of which are excellent. I suppose the law of averages means some will reach their intended destination. They are either excellent or awful, there is no in-between with him which is really unusual.
I actually like him a lot and think he is very good in that holding role. He's just ok in the other roles but is far from being awful as some on the BFC site suggest. He was better than some of the so called superior players like Mellis because of his effort alone. He will be solid enough cover for your starting 11.
