I spoke to Polly (Dave's daughter) regarding the future for Dave. She explained that Hannah is at the end of her working life of ten years ( due to COVID this period was extended).
Dave will (fingers crossed) be staying with Dave and his wife Brenda for the rest of her life.
Dave is on the waiting list for a new dog, I said to Polly ,if there is anything we can do as a club or fanbase to help please let us know.
She is going to keep in touch and give updates on how things are going.
Dave is a true inspiration and a lovely man, Hannah absolutely worships him, it's a joy to be around then and see how she operates.
It was fascinating to be in the tunnel at half time and see her leap into 'work mode' at the moment that Dave put her harness on.
Unfortunately, you may have noticed that Dave's hearing is getting worse and he wears hearing aids in each ear, he has so much resilience though and the fact that he is still determined to visit Loftus Road on the train with Hannah, all the way from the North East shows what a strong character he is.
I thought that you might enjoy this short video that I've just uploaded to the retroQPR YouTube channel.
It's an LBC radio report from February 1973 following our 5-0 win over Swindon Town in a Second Division match.
Stan Bowles had scored his first hat-trick for us earlier that afternoon and was interviewed by legendary journalist and broadcaster Norman De Mesquita after the game.
This clip also features a match report from LBC reporter and R's fan Michael Wale.
I've had this audio for a while so I'm glad to finally get it to to a wider audience and hear Stan on such great form on and off the pitch.
Tickets are still available for this match from the link above. This may be a chance for many of us to see a lot of the Under 23 squad in the flesh for the first time.
There may even be a contingent of first team players getting a run out following the Gillingham postponement.
Either way it should be a good night, there have always been strong links between the two clubs, our 1995-96 Football Combination Championship winning side played their home fixtures at Earlsmead
Among the players to have played for both sides are Albert Adomah, Ian Stewart and Gavin Maguire. Micky Tomkys arguably the most successful managers in the history of Harrow Borough played for Rangers between 1951 and 1959.
Our last visit to Earlsmead was almost ten years ago to the day - a 1-0 win on 15/7/2011
