Here this morning. Brrrrrrrrrrrr

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Well you have a good memory for a 5 year old, I'm 69 and I can't remember the winter of 63

I'm the same , I have no real recollection of it at all

I do. I remember the passageway in our terraced house in Skewen being blocked by a drift. We also had a bed down in the living room for me as i had measles during that winter

The big freeze lasted for weeks on end, winters tend to do that. Plenty of time for the journey

So what mode of transport did you use during that terrible winter, to get from Skewen to Blackpill?

That part eludes me , but my mother said it was my grandfathers car. He had a big Humber car with the big wheel arches and riding plates. I remember that car. He passed away in 66. I'm getting all nostalgic and sentimental now.. It's your fault.

By the end of December 1962 much of our road network was impassable. In some areas cars literally froze to the tarmac, and snow-ploughs struggled to get through. Entire villages were cut off, and people had to rely on helicopters to drop them food supplies.

i'm not sure the actual month, but i would guess it was on one of the snow free days. i'l have to ask my mother if she can remember. she's almost 93, so may be a bit uncertain

She said the roads were often cleared and gritted just as they are today. She said even then it was Wales and not Alaska
