Will be glued to the screen for the next few weeks, watching anything and everything. The Olympics are my favourite sporting event ever since I got hooked on the 1972 games.
Arrived in Paris yesterday. Amazing to see so many French people smiling, being polite, and offering service without the Gallic shrug of indifference!
I know Derby is up next week, anyone else visiting? If so, lets reserve tables at the Georges V and push on from there.

yep as a kid i used to fantasize, in a non sexual manner, about a UK football team in the olympics with a team of among others, Frank stapleton, Liam Brady, David o'Leary, Kenny Dalglish, Pat Jennings, Kevin Ratcliffe, Ian Rush , Bryan Robson, John barnes and Glenn hoddle .

I remember seeing a GB Olympic team playing qualifying games at Dulwich Hamlet in the 70's - composed of amateurs from clubs like Barnet and Leytonstone.

She is a member of the IOC, and a previous competitor, and as a Brit had a chance of a medal it was probably a good event for her to attend.
I agree it was a nice redemption tale and he so nearly achieved a phenomenal feat of three gold medals in a row in swimming, which very few have managed. |  | | |
